    Same as last week...

I adored that first hour. Thought the whole show was very good actually. But I could watch Brawn flipping things all day.

    The only news from this Raw that matters;

The Curb Stomp is back. :)

Yep - this is great news. I wonder why Vince changed his mind nearly 3 years after banning it? Seth never recovered from having it taken away from him. The pedegree was fine but once the HHH feud was over nearly a year ago he didn't have a proper finisher. The knee finisher was awkward and didn't even have a name. I bet Seth was begging Vince endlessly and he gave in.:D

I'd actually love if Seth won the Rumble. He's been in the mid card for too long and should be back in the title hunt, either a Mania match vs Lesnar or a triple threat against Lesnar and Reigns. Or of course he could switch to SD and face AJ at Mania.

Given the lingering shots on Finn at the end, and Seth's reactions, I feel the Curb Stomp was used as a story device, rather than a proper finisher. Finn was playing it up as if something horrific had been done to him, so maybe the idea is to play into the fact Seth doesn't use that move as a babyface, Jordon is corrupting him, etc.

On commentary they gave a new name though, the blackout. They’d hardly go to the effort of bringing it back with a new name as a cheap plot device would they?

Blackout is the moves original name from back when he was still Tyler Black, surprising they would call back to that.

I'm not surprised at all. It was Corey Graves who loves to be that smarky commentator.

I didn't really like the show. I enjoyed Strowman flipping the ambulance a few months back but this whole episode and the truck spot felt way too cheesy for my liking. The fact they did about twenty camera cuts for the truck moment left me feeling dizzy as well. I thought Kurt was left looking really terrible on this show which also irked me. It felt like the firing of Strowman just came across like a convenient plot device. Some of the dialogue they gave to Strowman in the opening segment had me cringing. I guess on the plus side if it helps him get over it's a win because the company needs stars.

I did really like the main event with Seth and Balor, and I also liked Goldberg going in the Hall of Fame, but I thought everything else was disappointing. I wish they would do more with Matt. I'd like to see Jeff involved in the story. I know he's not able to wrestle but presumably he can have some dialogue. I would also like to see other characters from the "Broken" universe. It feels like this won't get off the ground as long as they have him facing jobbers in the third hour.

Vince needs to rehire J & J Security to keep Strowman under control ;)

X-Pac was announced for RAW 25 or did I miss it?

Agreed, like i said last week, i like the character, but he can do what he likes between ppv's, he's not gonna be the man anytime soon, for me anyway, this backstage stuff is getting silly now, he's upturned an ambulance, a truck, pulled half the building down last week, what çan he possibly do next, when was the last time he actually won a big match, by what he's done backstage lately, he should win the title at the rumble, or if not, win the rumble, but he wont, so it'll be back to the back stage antics again.

Strowman "pulled half the building down last week" is a bit of a stretch.

He only pulled down some of the set..

Will Cillain Dane and Lars Sullivan just be other versions of Braun Strowman when/if they both debut on the main roster ???

I like Braun Strowman but some of these backstage antics are laughable and really make a show of the writers. Although Michael Cole getting dragged away was funny

I reckon it will be HHH vs Brawn at Mania, and Hunter will put him over huge.

Personally, I love it. He reminds me of the characters I grew up watching, like a Stone Cold, with the shenanigans. I realise everyone has different tastes in wrestling, but I find myself so utterly entertained by the cartoonish situations he gets put in to. I remember the stunts, and that puts him well ahead of a lot of other people on the roster.

Meh but Triple H could bring in a few NXT giants to try and help him out (AOP, if those War Machine guys debut, Sanity, Lars Sullivan etc)

Another mania match i can see is Rollins vs Jason Jordon with possibly Kurt Angle the special ref

Really?, Austin had matches, he had feuds to go along with the crazy stuff, who is Strowman feuding with apart from the backstage area, who was the last person he pinned in a match, Rhyno was it. No doubt next week we'll have him meet some legend, and i only hope its not Austin

I reckon HHH is gonna face Angle at Mania, the main looks set already set, so where will strowman be, nowhere near where he should be in my opinion.

    I enjoyed the Braun bits.
And as for Rollins/Balor, it seemed Balor was still face from hitting Cesaro. And for the Curb Stomp, blackout was said but then so was Stomp.

On other things I noticed, the women's rumble card has been updated to remove Paige and the commentator said she wasn't in it due to a neck injury.
And The Revival's promo about being professional wrestlers and not manufactured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

Was surprised by Paige appearing, is the injury rumours a work for the rumble of some sort? If she was retiring she wouldn't be continuing the angle surely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Hopefully they keep Angle out of the ring, he's physically done now.
HHH will put Braun over but it meant absolutely nothing when he did it for Reigns or Rollins.
Personally I'd do Cena vs Strowman at Mania instead. It's not happened at a big event & a win would mean something. It's not 2006 anymore when beating HHH actually mattered.
Strowman now I find is more a prankster than a monster as his feats are more humourous than dangerous. Tipping Roman over in a stretcher, using a grapple hook to crush people, escaping a garbage truck to attack Miz & tipping over huge vehicles for the sake of it.
Hopefully they don't turn him into Kane who was booked incredibly well until he teamed up with DX.

You mean "The Machine" Kane? Don;t know who Braun was thinking of when he referred to him as "Machine"

Angles's acting is worse than Bliss and Jax's

That curb stomp on Balor was a thing of beauty. I really hope he gets to keep it.

Was that when they were breathing heavily at one another and it was all very....this is written by Vince who probably daydreams like Alan Partridge around such men.

The cheesy shock after it took away like 20% of its coolness.

feel honoured with Raw celebrating it's 25th Anniversary next Monday that I saw episode number 1224 live in person (Nov 7th 2016 Glasgow Scotland)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,977 ✭✭✭HandsomeBob

Watched the 25 greatest moments on the network. It's impossible to really gauge a top 25 from such a vast library of content, but I thought it was good enough. Of the more recent entries, I had no real issue with them being there, and was cool to see the
    pipebomb
    rank so high.

It's easy to forget how good Foley was but whenever he popped up on the list it made me smile.

Bryan's occupy Raw I would dispute being on the list, purely because he had so many great moments during that period that were special (his turn on Bray for me trumped Occupy and perfectly captured the mood at the time amongst the fans). Occupy was just one of those slightly cringey scenes where Vinnie can't help but over produce things where the moment loses its natural charm and authenticity. Diva's Revolution is a more recent example of that where they can't just "be" without constantly referring to it (through Stephanie of course).

Was the turn on Bray when he was on top of the cage doing the slow yes chant and the crowd were doing it as well?

    I love that moment!
