Hi, just wondering what people do in general when trying to eat healthy during working week.
Do you bring in your lunch.
If you don't, where would you go to get a relatively healthy take away lunch to bring back to work ?
I find this very tricky on days I don't bring a packed lunch.

I bring my own lunch, backup would be Deli Bar for salad + cured meat/smoked salmon/tin tuna or sardines

Deli Bar for salad + cured meat/smoked salmon/tin tuna or sardines

Processed meat is generally full of salt though so I try to avoid it for healthy lunches myself.

I bring in my lunch practically every day. I have picked up a bag of salad and a pack of turkey or ham when I've forgotten it or not been prepared. Pre packed/ cured meat might not be brilliant, but sometimes you have to go least worse option.

However, at this stage I'm generally good at bringing in my lunch, so the odd day a month I might forget or have plans change, I just enjoy the sambo (might even go white bread! )

Yeh, would be great to have somewhere that provides a good selection of salads, fresh meats that you can just pop in, grab a bit of everything in a takeaway box and take back to work if need be.
I know there are some places that offer that now like Dunnes in Dt Stephens Green but sometimes I find the salad mix a bit goey, not enough fresh salad.

Is there a Chopped near where you work? They're expensive but sound like what you're after and have calories on the menu. You can do it yourself tho for a fraction of the price if you invest in some tubberware!

Was also going to mention chopped.
I generally batch cook 3/4 huge meals at once, freeze all and have one a day in work for about 2 months.

I used to eat ham and cheese sandwich white bread and butter almost every day for lunch at work but in the past few months I decided to eat better and introduce more variety so now a typical 5 days of lunch will be Day 1: Tuna and sweetcorn, mixed onion and a dash of mayo in a brown bread sandwich. Day 2: Vegetable soup Day 3: A big plate of salad Day 4 Salmon and vegetables Day 5 A treat like chips or chicken goujons. Variety really does help, theres no shortage of healthy food out there.
