After Westworld this is the new show I have been most looking forward to this season a really strong cast involved.

Michelle Forbes can do no wrong for me.

Read one review - basically, not as cerebral as other similar shows, but with that cast I'm in.

Disappointed with the pilot I must say despite the strong cast.

Enjoyed the opener. Doubtful it's going to be amazing, and I can see potential criticisms, but I liked mostly liked it. Thought there was more of Berlin city itself in this than in all of Homeland season 6...or I could be remembering incorrectly.

    D'oh, completely forgot about this.

4 episodes in, quite enjoyable. Well paced, good use of location - rooftops, streets, etc. Good rhythm, various agendas. Quite sweary. Hard to know where it fits in this day of Homeland, more 24, The Americans and not forgetting Rubicon. Quite a few characters to service, but I think the integration is pretty well handled. Oh, and they've borrowed a few leftover jazz tracks from Homeland too.

    1.05 and 1.06

Lucas North rode a bike in his suit! There was that pineapple line...

I enjoyed the 3 sparking off of each other in the meeting. Robert who is friendly with Mossad seems like he's going to give himself a heart attack at some stage.

"Nobody's a ****ing moderate any more"

    Well, quite.

    The op was pretty good.

Reveal at the end of 1.07 was expected, had been suggested early on. Now it's a case of whether the arc of the last 3 episodes swings towards getting Shaw and resetting for season 2, or keeping that storyline open.

    1.08 was good. What's next, I wonder?

I was never a big fan of Rhys Ifans but I have to say he is excellent in Berlin Station. Overall a very good cast and show.

Im on 4 or 5 , Berlin is a great "spy" city location , its not as tight as Homeland I lost track a bit during one of the episodes but enjoyable all the same

They made good use of the Berlin locations again in 1.09. Seems as though the ground has shaken under pretty much everyone at this point.

Sign of a strong finale that I'd like to watch it again. Had a good energy to it, imo. Truthfully, I'd like to rewatch in part because I didn't understand all of the dynamics and relationships...finale felt collaborative. Perhaps the most international spy show as of late - Americans, Germans and Mossad (well, one person) all in the mix, none trusting the other, basically. Different stakes to Homeland, less on the global stage in some respects (or just the vibe to it) - maybe a different sort of CIA too. If the rest of the season had been like that it might have caught more attention, but a decent first run on the whole.

Two parter to kick things off, only caught the first so far. Straight into the mix with Ashley Judd. Not sure the other n00b April will last long. Decent level of threat going on, with the usual spy potential for backstabbing, etc.

Perhaps questionable how easy it was to wind up Otto up, but there was drink involved. Teeth - nice! Qashqai vs a Porsche? :pac:

I was a bit confused there and wondering if Judd's character was previously going out with the Oslo station chief (shown last week?), back in the 2010 clips, infiltrating the hippy cult. Not sure. Car crash came out of nowhere. Still, explains some of her backstory. What's Frost going to do too, in his relationship with the ambassador? All a bit of a balancing act. The daughter character is a bit of a tool.

I bet the Norwegian tourist board were bloody delighted with 2.06. :D Thing I like about the show is the strength of the relationships - respectful, experienced, frank and general talking smack about CIA stuff. Robert eats a lot of food in his apartment. :pac:

I enjoyed the final stretch of episodes. I was expecting 10 as that's what Wiki said, but then knew from the show's Twitter that it was going to end on 2.09. I thought they handled the German side better than Homeland did too.

Looking forward to catching up with season 2 next week when I have a few days off I will just relax and binge them.

I thought the last episode of season 2 was very rushed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I enjoyed that I must say it did seem rushed and an episode short having to put to much into those final couple of episodes.

I hope that's not the last we of Ifans but I think it is the right way to go out if it is.

****ing hell the ending to episode 2 really ups the story line for the season.

Didn't realise the second one was out already. I enjoyed the opener. You just knew someone was coming after Daniel the second he left the hospital, and he's at certainly got a formidable foe there now. Torres seems interesting too, knows his own mind.

From press/interviews - season 3 is set over 11 days and in 6 countries.

Temperature certainly increased there alright.

Some not so subtle 'did you know, iPads can take notes?' product placement in this one, hey ho. I did enjoy that April was able to break out an actual map. No surprise re the railroad and all that, great locations for the episode and well captured too. The show's good at being realistic in so far as it can be without going into off the wall conspiracy stuff.

I'm liking the new guy still know answer to the last episodes cliffhanger I think they may let that run right to the last episode or two.

I am wondering are they implying this is what is happening in the Ukraine with this story line.

Yeah, for now I'm thinking Daniel is alive - because it's TV...even if it's the spy genre. You could definitely feel the mood in Berlin towards the end. The truck with the waitress was grim. Torres - it's a wonder he didn't go knock a few Spetsnaz skulls together, Peugeot and all. James Cromwell is good value, touch of arrogance there. I had to rewatch there he said sealed his lips...unless there was some other meaning behind that? And what the heck is April's date's father experimenting with in the lab?

3.04 landed on Christmas Eve. Very much enjoyed it and how the show flows. So it's not the Russians, or someone working for the Russians. Given how much sleep was mentioned I wonder if that'll contribute to mistakes. April might be the only one who is sleeping OK. Who is Robert's neighbour? Good to see Robin Weigert too and James Cromwell is no lightweight, either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

James Cromwell being in two different Berlin based showing airing at the same time will get confusing.

    Mixed bag this week.

I did like Robert in this weeks episode.

Jaysus, almost everyone threw a punch this week. Really showed the crappy and frustrating side of intelligence. Difficult for Robert, the tunnel location was cool for TV. Will be interesting to see what state Daniel's in.

Some nice use of the empty venues in 3.06 - the football stadium and the lecture hall. That said, I found one or two of the close ups, etc, a bit strange at times. I also got a little confused about the number of players, but was tired when watching. The bearded bloke talking to the bald guy near the end was in 3.01, former Spetsnaz, iirc. I think April stole the limelight here with the deal. Hector's as friendly as ever. Thought it was going to pear-shaped in the restaurant, not to mention the club too. Will we see James Cromwell again, I wonder?

Good use of location again, including that disused place. I was spoiled on BB's vote so it didn't have much impact on me. This work is hard. Some nice old school fingerprint stuff from Torres and bloody Nina, eh? Hector and Daniel are together again. :P

Well now that was a fantastic last 15 minutes or so what a brilliant tense stand off and WOW what an ending!!!
