It's changing channel... now will it have to change its name too? After all, the chances of a second Scottish referendum have increased dramatically...

Regardless, Emma will be staying on as host:

Sir Tom Jones will return to The Voice UK when the show makes its debut on ITV early next year.

The Voice UK moved channels when ITV acquired its rights from BBC One in 2015.

Sir Tom will be joined on the panel by Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson and rock star Gavin Rossdale.

The show's long-running coach, will.i.am, will complete the line-up for the singing competition.

My first impressions of this line-up are not good, I'm afraid. :o:o

It feels a little too American - not just because of Will and Jennifer, but also because Gavin was a mentor for his now ex-wife's team on the US version fairly recently.

It also feels quite old in age. Tom is 76, of course - but Jennifer's the only one under 40, and then she's 35. (In contrast, Tom was the only judge over 40 in the first two BBC series...)

And of course, this being ITV, not only will there be ad breaks... but the likelihood of sob stories is greater. :o

This annoys me and would put me off watching.

Also not impressed with the line up, I liked Ricky, why has he been booted off? Also, never heard of Gavin Rossdale!

Ricky wasn't booted off - he left of his own accord, choosing not to follow the show to ITV.

Gavin, meanwhile, is the lead singer of Bush and was married to Gwen Stefani for 14 years.

The show where it's all about the voice ... except when the judges act the fool in the chairs with the whole "are you gonan go? I want to go" crap around the button.

Confirmed to start on 7 January at 8pm.

    http://www.itv.com/thevoice/its-official-2017-is-going-to-be-the-best-year-yet

Two big changes to the format have also been confirmed: trios are now allowed, and the coaches will not turn around to see any acts they don't push their button for. Meaning, of course, that if none of them push their button, the act will never come face-to-face with them... :o

I said in post #2 that the likelihood of sob stories was greater. Well, even if there are none, I think it's fair to say that the likelihood of tears is greater nonetheless... :o;)

TV3 have confirmed that they will be showing it :)

So I've started watching with my oh, we half enjoyed the BBC version, but Niebuhr that it's on ITV are we just going to get sob stories for all the singers?

We've already had a full back ground story for each singer that's come out so far.

Still though, Emma Willis is the bomb.....

Ah feel really bad for that girl when no one turned, I thought they all turned at the end & gave feedback?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,883 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Some of the contestants give off the impression that they've already made it though and they will get a turn. And then are bitterly disappointed when no one turns!

I find JHud a tad like Jessie J, a diva with a great voice

Not now from this series that is one of the new changes

Watched it last night. Met.a.phor is a fcuking gob****. Too many ads, too many back stories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,883 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

The ads are definitely going to be annoying now, that was the beauty about the Beeb version, now it seems there's a 10 minute segment featuring 1 singer, then a 5 minute ad break!!

We'll have to sky+ it and start watching it 20-30 minutes after it actually starts.

Just to make the rejection even more brutal, but in fairness, it always felt quite awkward/cringy when they did all turn around for someone that wasn't picked.

    I enjoyed the first episode
    My thoughts.

Gavin seems likeable well spoken and you sense he knows his stuff
Great to have Tom and will back
J Hudson seems a bit mental so like for like with Paloma but I think she will be less annoying

    Good start

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Crazyteacher

Glad Tom and Will are back. I think Gavin is quite reserved but will get better as his confidence grows in his new job. Jennifer knows what she's talking about , quite like Jessie in her comments. The ads are hard to get used to again alright.
None of the acts would have got me to turn around last night though. I had watched let it shine before hand though and wow their were a good few talented singers on that!

Hi Autosport! Yeah I'm watching and thought tonights show was really good. Normally it's the judges that will put me off a show but liking these guys..Will I Am is funny:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,262 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

I'm surprised at some people they didn't turn for. I'm loving the judges especially Gavin and Jennifer's little bickering :D

Michelle is 43  wow she don't look it btw she screamed too much near end of song

  • Maybe I'm not remembering previous years correctly but there was a lot of crying and sob stories tonight. Very X factor. And I also hate the ads!!

Never felt any of them were going to turn for the first girl as it was pure "West End". |But jeez Gavin really left it till the last minute for girl No 2! Glad he turned though..

Ahhh really liked the N.Ireland guy but felt he should have gone with Gavin..

Yes. So hard to get used to again ! If I see the ad for Dominoes again I'll go mad. Can't wait for the next stage and more group performances from the judges :) especially Tom !

Very entertaining show this evening! The blind auditions are now complete, with each of the coaches having their full quota on their teams. Gavin cut it very fine as he was forced to chose the only contestant left, in order to complete his team. Luckily fofr him, he was delighted with the girl he got.

Am disappoited the Ballinteer girl did not get through. She sang well and I'm surpfrised no one turned for her.

So, now! Let the real competition begin!

I really thought Tom would take her, she was very good

The Rice chap very overrated and thought too much of himself

Seems nowadays, mens' falsetto, will get them everywhere. In one case this evening, the guy singing was just okay. The instant he went falsetto, all the buzzers were hit at once on the first falsetto note. What's the big deal? In many cases, IMO, it comes across as just another gimic.

Two hours of battles gets a bit tiresome in the end. Entertaining, neverthelesss! The judges were taking their roles fairly seriously, so not so much messing around. More of the same tomorrow!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Eyepatch

I see The Voice UK - 2 hours of battles - will be clashing with Dancing with the Stars. "Dancing" will take pereference.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Crazyteacher

Did you see Will run and give Tom a big hug when he stole his act. There's a real bromance there.

Loving Sir Tom :) You can leave your hat on :D

I wish they did more judges group performances. Used to love that. Especially when Tom would knock every song out of the park :) maybe they will tomorrow night?

Why was Truly nodding when she thought the camera was off her just before her name was announced to go through I wonder??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Crazyteacher

Maybe she was nodding at family in the audience. Was quite shocked at acts that got through on the public vote for Will. Then who he picked himself. Anyone else think Jennifer hasn't anything interesting to say? Come on with the judges performances. Missing Ricky's energy

Anybody still watching this. It's actually not a bad last 8 I think. Well 2 of the lads are very forgettable, but have the makings of a very good quality final 4 here.
Seems it's not getting the viewers for ITV that it did on BBC, but i'm not surprised. Those ad breaks kill it. We record it each time. Watched last Saturdays 2 hour 5 min show in just over an hour.

It's pretty good, and I hope Mo wins, he is a class apart. Truly & Jamie are great too. I see how Max & Michelle will appeal to their own audiences too. The other 3 can go.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Crazyteacher

I'm watching but getting increasingly bored as it goes on. Unless it improves in the next few weeks I won't be watching at all next year. Jennifer and Gavin are boring, I am sick of Will watching everything through his tablet/phone. Put them down, have good manners and watch what's in front of you Will. Are there no product placement rules any more? I do love Tom though .

Missing Ricky too. Saw him with Greg Davies in a hot tub last night. My EYES !

She's brilliant..her dress though is awful imo and Jennifer is like something out of Dallas..Will is like someone at a crime scene.

They must have got dressed in the dark :D I enjoyed all performances so far. Let's see how the duets will go

Pixie Lott sounded crap! Shaking her half bare arse at the camera was pure cringey too.

So glad Mo and Into the Ark got through :)
