Any idea what prices they're going down to? 50% off currently but some are €70 for games.

My brother told me 1/2 price BD Star Wars Trilogy down to €20 & James Bond DVD Collection down to €20 in Tesco L'kenny recently.

He took a few pics, i'll get them off him & post here.

It's a pity, as i got thems above posted on here a while back.

I'd only heard the news when I posted, but my son saw Lego Dimensions starter pack down from €110 to €55 on Saturday and I thought it strange then

If it is anything like the last sale, this will be a bust with all good stock taken by the staff before it reaches the shop floor.

They were all to be sold off starting last sunday, prices were still too high to shift them so they are trying to clear them again.

Might try early tomorrow, will be interesting to see what's left in the morning compared to today

Was in Tesco Mahon Point last night and the 50% sale was on. 50% off everything regardless of original price.

Seemed like the genuine stock to me, to me the original prices are very expensive and l'd never pay them for most of the new products.

It was CD's/DVD's/games/Starter packs/Lego dimensions (everything).

Even with the 50% off I would say the sale of the product was slow, some of the original prices are crazy. €40 for a box set and all this stuff, €75 for a PS4 game (original price). No wonder they can't sell the stuff.

Totally. Just saw this on FB.
Tesco in portlaoise is nearly all sold out already staff have it wiped clean

Waste of time, as other posters pointed out the original selling prices are scandalous. They have PS3 games with a rrp of €60!

Prices on stuff seems to be all over the place I got Mario Galaxy 2 for €10 tonight along with Transformers revenge of the fallen autobots for DS which was marked with a €5 sticker but scanned for €20 down to €10 they put it through for €2.50 in the end as it was marked with the €5 sticker I think they are gonna end up putting every game on the system under these dump codes to save on a massive database price overhaul. They kept my receipt because of the price override but I am happy with my purchases.

    Not sure if different nationwide.
Was looking at the DVDs this morning.
Manager stopped me and said they would be
    5 for E10 tomorrow morning(Friday).

They have lots of old games (Wii & PS2 at least) in clearance bins in my local Tesco ready for tomorrow - folks are handing games to members of staff they know asking them to hold them in the back for them tomorrow when the price goes down.

Complete disaster this morning in clarehall, went in half price sale signs bloody everywhere.
Loads people going checkout and no half price, management seemed to have pulled the promotion. Staff don't know what's going on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,210 ✭✭✭maximoose

    Many games of interest there?

I'm off tomorrow so might take a trip over but expecting it to be the dregs left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

Twitter says Friday, so I guess we'll see. Santry didn't know what I was talking about either, absolute rubbish left.

For XB1, Rise of the Tomb Raider & Mad Max for €10 each wouldn't be bad. If you could get them that is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭jontr

I've seen yesterday in Tesco in Cork city center one of the employees taking off the shelf all PS4 and XBox One games and taking them away - I guess these games will be bought by one of his friends and then sold to GameStop or CEX, so I don't think anything interesting is left.

A nice game of hide and seek today with the games might help. How did that xbox game get down by the cereal? :P

There was a reasonable amount of XB1 stuff in clarehall. Very little PS4/3DS/Wii U stuff though.

Nothing special on the DVD prices in Tesco Sligo today (1.30pm)

    Sligo Metalhead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,921 ✭✭✭RayCon

Yesterday (Weds) - Maynooth looked to be preparing everything into one big main area of the floor. Bargain Baskets and Displays were being filled with DVD's / Box sets etc ...

Today (Thurs) - Disappeared - nothing but empty floor space.

I can only guess they were told to put everything back into the store room and bring it all back out tomorrow (Fri) for the "Big Clearance".

Well - either that or the Tesco management team haven't a fcukin clue what they're doing.

went into tesco arthurs quay limerick to see if it was worth going in the morning. could not see a single xbox1 or ps4 game and i reckon most of the xbox 360 ps2/ps3 games could be bought cheaper else where. had a few copys of abba singstar ps3,world cup 2014 brazil, saints row 360, splinter cell, midnight club ect but didnt see anything worth 10 euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,167 ✭✭✭✭Berty

I was in kilrush and the games are out there but a little different.

The normal section are all full price games, scanned them and no discount, and there were a few mixed ps4/ps3/Xbox variants together with handwritten prices on them.

Checked them out on Amazon and Tesco are way off after the 50% off.

    Evolve
    Fifa 16
    The Order
    Elder Scrolls Online

Evolve an example is 32.99 but £9 on Amazon.

    Systems are down nationwide.

I had an epiphany and asked someone.

Waste of time bothering with the sale. Almost all ps4 games are already off the shelf in galway apart from fifa 16 copies which will have little interest. Most of the be good xb1 games are gone too. While looking a tesco staffer came over while on the phone to someone getting instructions on which games to hide. She handed an armful of the good games to a staff member who was on duty in electricals and asked her to store them for her until tomorrow. Working staffer reminded her to let her know if she wants any other games kept for her.

Terrible for general public but Galway staff have made the sale a waste of time by hogging all the best games and blurays. Its a crappy thing to do but im sure the practice is nationwide. I expect the shelves to magically empty overnight at a time when they are supposed to be restocked

Thank god for argos's reservation system which prevents potentially greedy staff from keeping all the best deals to themselves.

I'm willing to guess you've never worked in retail. I've done my time in the trenches and, to be fair, if I was a Tesco employee earning around a tenner an hour and putting up with the sh1te that they have to deal with every day, I'd grab every perk that comes my way too. I wouldn't say that makes them greedy.

Every job has it's perks, theirs is easy access to the odd lucrative bargain.
