Just wondering what stage are the championships at in your own county

Down here we are at the quarter final stage and the games are due to be played next weekend

    Dr Crokes V Kerins O`Rahilly's

    South Kerry V Dingle

    Mid Kerry V Rathmore

    Kenmare District V Austin Stacks

The Junior and Intermediate club championships are at the final stage

In the Junior its Na Gaeil V Glenbeigh/Glencar

And the Intermediate final is Kenmare V Templenoe, good one here is that these two teams will make up the bulk of the Kenmare District team in the Senior Championship.

Kilmoyley won the Hurling championship yesterday beating Ballyduff in the replay 1-18 to 2-13

The group stages of the Meath SFC finished up yesterday. Big news is that Navan O'Mahony's, who were going for three in a row, are out after being beaten by Dunshaughlin. Former champions Wolfe Tones are in a relegation playoff but I'd be amazed if they don't stay up. They are lucky that proposals to make each grade a 16 team championship were shelved as they would have been relegated had they gone ahead.

    Preliminary Quarter Final
    Donaghmore Ashbourne v Dunshaughlin
    Quarter Final Pairings
    Preliminary winner v Seneschalstown
    Dunboyne v Simonstown
    Na Fianna v Gaeil Colmcille
    Summerhill v Skryne

In the Senior Hurling, Kiltale are also going for a three in a row. They're playing Kildalkey in the semi final. It's Killyon versus Trim in the other semi final.

In Roscommon we are down to the semi finals in the senior club championship and finals in intermediate and junior football. Also down to the final in the senior hurling. Last years senior champions Clan Na nGael were knocked out, didn't make the quarter finals. The senior hurling champions Four Roads are going for nine in a row this year and have a semi final replay to play.

Senior Football Club Championship Semi Finals
    St. Bridgets -v- Boyle
    Padraig Pearses -v- Western Gaels

    Intermediate Club Football Final
    Oran -v- Kilmore

    Junior Club Football Final
    Creggs -v- Kilglass Gaels

    Senior Club Hurling Final
Oran -v- Four Roads or Padraig Pearses

    Tyrone

    Senior Championship Semi Final Replay
    Clonoe v Coalisland - Sunday 2nd Oct

    Senior Championship Final
    Killyclogher v Clonoe/Coalisland - Sunday 9th Oct

Very competitive senior championship. Clonoe and Coalisland will both be confident going into replay. Clonoe beat Carrickmore and Omagh to get this far, Coalisland had a handy enough run. League standings show there is not much betweem them, with Coalisland sitting 2nd in league a few places above Clonoe. Neighbours and a local derby, could go either way.
Whoever wins will only have a week before meeting last years beaten finalists Killyclogher who have overcome Errigal Ciaran, Trillick ( holders ) and Dromore ( many peoples favourites ) to get to the final.

    Intermediate championship Final
    Derrylaughan v Pomeroy - Sunday 9th Oct

    Junior Champhionship Final
Rock St. Patricks v Tattyreagh - Sunday 2nd Oct

In Galway both senior championships are at semi final stage.

In football it's Corofin v Mountbellew-Moylough in one semi final and Cortoon v Salthill-Knocknacarra in the other. Champions Corofin are hot favourites to win it again and it will be a major surprise if they don't.

In the hurling semis it's Gort v Craughwell and Loughrea v St Thomas. This is much more competitive than the football, with champions Sarsfields already out along with Joe Canning and his formerly all-conquering Portumna team. Craughwell would be outsiders but there's not much between the other three.

    Semi finals this weekend.

St Josephs Doora Barefield v Sixmilebridge and Tubber v Broadford.

Tubber came down from senior last year and Broadford are many people's favourites so the winners will probably come from that side.

St Bridget's and Padraig Pearses will contest the Roscommon senior football final

Bridgets make a return to the final after a one year absence having contested 11 finals between 2000 and 2014 by comfortably beating Boyle in the semi final. Pearses who got to this stage a year ago before losing to Paul Curran's Clann na Gael side had 3 points to spare in todays other semi final on perennial bridesmaids of the past decade Western Gaels

Austin Stacks won that beating the Crokes a few weeks back

If Kenmare District win the county Championship,Stacks will be representing Kerry in Munster as Kenmare are a divisional side

    County Championship takes precedence.

3 out of the last 4 (Crokes, Dingle and Rathmore) are club teams and if they win the County Championship they will procees to the Munster Championship.

If the final divisional team (Kenmare District) win, then Austin Stacks (as club champions) go on to Munster.

There was a replay last year and Legion (who were in the County Final) ended up going on to play in Munster, despite not winning the club championship. I think Dingle missed out. So maybe they have changed the rules since. I'll have to check.

No Divisional sides allowed in Munster

Ya if a club wins the County Championship then they are Kerrys representatives in the Munster Championship

If a Divisional side wins the County Championship then the winners of the Senior Club Championship is Kerry's representatives in Munster

    Are St. Mary's still Intermediate?

The Intermediate winners werent promoted last year as they were trying to reduce the amount of club teams in the County Championship, there was three club teams relegated last year to Intermediate,

Intermediate winners will be promoted this year as its now back to a one club up one club down system

Miltown/Castlemaine are relegated and either Templenoe or Kenmare will be promoted to Senior

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,256 ✭✭✭LeoB

The way divisional teams play in Kerry is a great system. Gives good club players the chance to play at highest level within their county where they might never get play above junior otherwise.

    Where are An Gaelteacht now.

They lost the Semi Final of the Intermediate Championship this year to Templenoe, they are firmly on their way back and are back in Division One of the County League next year.

Double header of Vinnies/Fianna and Kickhams/Brigids on sunday be good.

Ballyboden are playing Crokes on Saturday I think, which also be interesting.
