You can do it now and give a second injection in 6 weeks.

We always injected them a few weeks before lambing...

For hoggets - they would get their first dose maybe 6 weeks before lambing. And then get their second dose 4 weeks later, and the ewes would get their annual shot at the same time... A few weeks before lambing...

You'd want to check the dates on whatever product you want to use, not 100% sure of the weeks there...

For some crazy reason unbeknown to me they were never done!

If you haven't had dead lambs or ewes as a result of not vaccinating them you mighten need to do them for whatever reason unbeknownst to me.

Anyone any issue with rams done with hep P, still getting pneumonia?

I had it in a ram just after buying him and when i quizzed the seller he revealed the ram had only one injection of hep P....first injection only lasts short time if it's not followed up with another

I have had 2, 1 i bought last yr as a lamb. Did him twice myself and went down in May and July with it. Then bought a 3yr old a month ago, gave him his first shot and he went down with it 8 days later. Sounds like i aint doin it right but the 100 ewes never have an issue!

Funny you say that...he got that too! He has been relegated to the sub bench. After the season, his withdrawal dates will be up and i will cut my losses on him i think. Pitty great sheep.

That texel throat leaves them very prone to pnuemonia,,,,,,,conscientious breeders are culling the prone lines out of their flocks.....
Apparently you're supposed to be able to see a telltale swelling of texel throat under the chin of the prone ones before they even get affected

Will heptevac prevent pneumonia? I was told that you need heptevac p plus. I dunno maybe I picked it up wrong.

heptavac p and P+ overs pneumonia, ..ordinary heptavac doesn't......that's likely what the P means
