    Crolla v Linaares - Sky Sports 2

    Huck v McKenzie - Boxnation

Nothing too major by way of fight cards but Crolla v Linares is a real 50-50 fight despite Crolla being slight favourite.

Conor Benn is actually rubbish, he's going to get battered against a decent opponent.

Willbeforce Shihepo, where does Hearn get these lads from.

What time is Crolla expected in the ring?

    How ugly is this fight

Maybe research him a bit before auto-criticism. He's actually a tough customer who has been the distance with Artur Abraham and has never been stopped. Just the right sort of opponent for Johnson at this stage of his career.

Huck/McKenzie was called off a few days ago after Ovill pulled out. Hoping Linares can take another paper title off the British.

This is an ugly fight on Sky right now. Absolutely awful.

    So he's a super middleweight.

Crolla is probably the better boxer but Linares carries more pop. Decent match up & thankfully not on ppv

    Was.

He has been at Light-heavy for his last three fights.

Froch is painful as ever to listen to.

Meh, he gassed after a few rounds there, has had one meaningful fight at Light Heavyweight and hadn't fought since December.

    Wow. Super right hand KO!

I often wonder why people like you even watch boxing. You virtually never seem to enjoy any fight you comment on here. Seriously!

Maybe you should stop putting yourself through all that torture by just not watching.

Scrappy fight but it was almost worth watching for that punch alone.

That was a terrible fight though apart from the KO. I enjoy plenty of fights.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Johner. It's hard to enjoy fights when guys are handpicked to benefit promoters in the long run.

Crolla/Linares should be a great fight but that last fight was just meaningless competition to keep locals happy.

This Ryder guy has always been tough viewing for me. Another awkward southpaw.

Don't mind who wins tonight Crolla or Linares once we get a cracking fight.

Whoever wins should really fight Turbo Terry next if he comes through his unification fight against the WBC Serbian Zlatican.

Any chance they can cut this to a 6 rounder?

I never said it was a good fight either. Cos it wasn't.

However, you automatically criticised the opposition based on his name before you knew anything about him. Yet he ended up giving Johson the sort of 9 rounds that he'll learn more from than all his previous fights put together. It has nothing to do with entertainment and everything to do with a fighter's development. That's what a manager/promoter is supposed to do for his fighter.

See my previous post. That fight was anything but meaningless for Callum Johnson. He really had to work and would have learned a lot from it.

Obviously you have to win fights and what not but what can he learn from that fight? Ok, he landed a nice clean KO shot but he was cruising his way to victory because his opponent was so incompetent in everything he was doing after the 2nd round.

I'm all for development in fighters but Hearn handpicks fighters to make his guy look good. Promoters are there to make money. They can say they're there to develop their fighters but they're given bums and the hype machine goes into overdrive without really achieving anything.

I like boxing but I'd like it even more if the best actually fought the best or if we got cards on a regular basis that are actually competitive.

Ryder's tough viewing, but Gavin is in a league of his own.

Has there been a single proper power punch landed in this fight?

"Can one of these guys become British champion?"

Froch: "I don't see why not. They're both British level for sure"

    So, average? ;)

Get off your high horse FFS. He came through a fight where his opponent made crazy mistakes and just wanted to hold him at every opportunity when his cardio/gameplan failed miserably after 2 rounds.

I dunno what's worse, Sweet Caroline or that awful Oh Anthony Crolla chant.

Wow 8-3 by two judges !!!

Of all the eye catching-impacting shots landed Ryder's opponent landed the vast majority of them.

If Linares has and substance left he should beat Crolla. One of boxing's weakest WCs. He's a very likeable guy, but bang average.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Burial.

They're even f*cking chanting it during the Venezuelan national anthem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

National anthems at the boxing when you've got boozed up punters who just boo over the opposition's anthem should be done away with.

If Linares decides to commit more this won't last!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Crolla struggling with the speed of Linares.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,356 ✭✭✭✭walshb

I agree with Paulie... You can't referee your own fight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,551 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

That was ridiculous. Linares unloading and O'Connor basically stops it mid onslaught.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,356 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Deliberate or not is nothing to do with it. If it's low it's low. Not sure if that was low!
