Mooring on the Shannon

Hi Folks,

hope some of you have recent knowledge on the cost of mooring a boat on the Shannon. I am looking at the north of the Shannon, so anywhere from Leitrim down to Roosky.

Looking at all options at the moment so can be the full deal of shore power and facilities to just the basic mooring.

My Dad uses Albert Lock Marina near Drumsna, I think it between 1500-1700 p/a for a 37ft plus liftouts and electricity. The owners are very decent people and the place is kept very well.

A slight inconvenience is you have to pass through the lock to get to Carrick etc. but access to Dromod, Roosky, Kilglass etc. is good.

I'll second the Albert Lock Marina. Had a boat there on the hard, so couldn't tell you mooring fee's. Hard standing rental for me was €25pw, €150 for a lift.

Found them very professional and accommodating with good security. Looking at the crazy amount, possibly hundreds of boats there, I'd say a lot of other boaters would think the same.

Further north, Cootehall marina is 800 euro per year with options for winter liftout and hard standing if required.
