    They make great stuff.

Although even though the prices are good for the powerbanks I think Amazon are taking the piss with the price it was was discounted from.

In my experience, a lot of their power banks wont ship to Ireland, even using Parcel Motel/Wizard.

With the powerbank is there much risk with customs if I collect by parcel motel as they don't send to Ireland?

Customs isn't an issue unless you're importing from outside the EU. However, Anker won't ship to NI either, so PM isn't really an option.

Yeah, ran into the same issue with Powerbanks on Amazon a week before going to Glastonbury this year.

You could use something like AddressPal to get a Powerbank as they have an address in London (Herts or Slough.. or something).. but I did read on their Facebook that they refused to deliver or collect for someone who ordered a Powerbank from Amazon as it indicated something about it on the Amazon label.

I did eventually find a Powerbank which Amazon shipped (after a lot of digging) but wasn't great to be honest.. from my e-mail receipt, it was this one!

It comes down to shipping LiOn batteries above certain capacity. That's what AdressPal is for ;)

Looking for some cheap speakers to pair with my Amazon Echo Dot, are the speakers for £20.99 worth it?

Considering this or just splashing out for a UE Roll 2 for £80

Just on a side note, Ankers customer service is second to none.

I've had the Anker bluetooth speaker in my cart for the last while. I guess its time to take the plunge.

Any experience shipping batteries using these guys? As Basq said, they may refuse based on the Amazon label.

Addresspal worked for me a couple of months ago. Although officially they say they won't ship batteries.

I don't want to go off thread but I got this one on banggood. Have bought a few more since for others - if you can wait worked out around 12 Euro

it is listed on their site as
Original XIAOMI 5.1V 2.1A 10000mAh Power Bank For Smartphone

    1 x Original XIAOMI 5.1V 2.1A 10000mAh Power Bank For Smartphone (SKU236908) €10.65

Some time ago I wanted to buy a power bank from one of those Chinese shops... eventually I didn't, as I wasn't convinced the advertised power was true.

I think it was Aliexpress or Dhgate, anyway a power bank being described as 20.000 mAh seemed to be 10.000 mAh in reality, based on the product weight (I compared it to Ankers, which are usually the lightest ones, and it was much lighter than the Anker, meaning probably the battery was smaller than claimed), notes in the reviews and the claimed number of charges for a particular phone (e.g. "it will charge your iPhone 6 four times").

Always do your homework before buying.

This Xiaomi on banggood claims "up to 93% conversion rate" but then says "minimum 6.250mAh actual output capacity", so I'm puzzled as to why it's not closer to the advertised 10.000mAh figure.

Also, my next power bank will likely be Qualcomm compatible (not sure if the Xiaomi is, it claims to be intelligent and to have a good output, but it's not the same as far as I know), as they're much faster to recharge your device: my old juice pack is rather slow and new phones come with large batteries which take a while to charge fully.

The powerline+ is a pretty strong cable, great tough quality. I got 3 a few months ago.

A pouch comes with the 6ft cables and theres velcro straps for the 10ft.

Seems to be a new thing with Amazon not shipping batteries

I've got 1000mAh shipped by them in the past (EasyAcc - excellent quality)

I bought an Anker Qualcomm 20100 mah recently from Amazon UK via Addresspal - excellent company to deal with and true to word I was able to charge numerous phones & tablets over a 3 day period without recharging the battery.

The cheap unbranded chinese knock offs are nowhere near the decent build or inner chip quality on offer from the top brands like Anker. Some of these chinese versions are offering upto 50000mah - which if true would be a seriously heavy powerbank. The 20100mah that I have is quite heavy as it is but one of the best bits of kit if you are away from electricity for any length of time.

What way does address pal work?

I have Xiaomi 10,000 and 20,000 power banks and highly recommend them. I have other Xiaomi products and while not that we'll known outside Asia yet, they're a very reputable company.

It seems to be a real pain on Amazon recently about this, tried to order I think 4,000ma battery packs recently and they wouldn't ship to NI. Some phones have that capacity so the safety thing doesn't make much sense.

Syncwire have jumped on the wagon today. 25% off. Not as established or as well known as Anker but very good stuff nonetheless.

Majority of couriers have clauses that they don't ship stand-alone batteries. Address Pal has the same...

I am not saying they don't ship it. They say they don't allow it to be shipped. That's a small difference.

I was going to order this via DPD, but it wont let me just order one, if i order two it will deliver. I cant figure out why, can anyone else?

Actually no, it wont even let me buy two for delivery there. I will try addresspal

Ah I gathered it in the thread, thing is actually in NI for a brief spell so there would be an irony in paying to use a service that sends to a ROI when in the UK itself.

My main complaint is that it doesn't seem like its an issue that is in anyway created by logic, so much stuff they will ship has Li batteries of larger capacity than this stuff. In general I've been finding amazon is getting worse at delivering random stuff to Northern Ireland. Its a pain because if you had the option of using Royal Mail they consider NI as the same cost as the rest of the UK.
TLDR: Pissed of it seems to be easier to order from China than from one part of the UK to another.

Ordered a PowerCore+ 26800 Premium through addresspal on Monday (when it was £38.24, Thanks) and it was available for pickup today. No issues.

First time using addresspal as I've been using parcel motel for such a long time without issue. Parcel motel has some stiff competition I think.

Not really, you have been lucky, but in my experience Address Pal is a disaster in comparison.

    - No tracking, so if something goes missing it just disappears into a black hole
    - You only get notified of the package has arrived at the post office when the post office staff remember to scan it. I've had packages that turned out were in the post office for 3 days, they had just forgot to scan it!
    - The Address Pal ID is far too long, often ends up getting cut off by label printers, thus causing delivery problems.
    - Post offices have terrible opening hours for anyone wih a job, even close during lunch! ParcelMotel open 24/7
    - Don't go to the post office on a Friday, you'll end up there for at least 30 minutes behind a massive queue of pensioners.

I mostly use ParcelWizard for most packages from UK, delivered right to your door and DPD are superb.

I use ParcelMotel for returns and sending packages (much cheaper then An Post).

I only use Address Pal where the above two won't work, won't deliver to Northern Ireland, etc.

I agree completely. I use addresspal as a last resort as you don't know where your item is from the time they receive it , to the time they have it at the local post office. If they could improve on tracking , it would improve the service big Time.....
An example of great service.... I had an item dispatched from Amazon.co.uk to parcel motel , Antrim on a Thursday evening. it arrived in Antrim at 2pm next day and was in my parcel motel box, Clontarf , Dublin at 10.30. pm that night....
    I was very impressed

They stopped a good while back. Some 3rd party reseller still will ship it but Amazon got themselves in trouble over it.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2016/09/23/amazon-fined-65000-for-attempting-to-deliver-hazardous-goods-by/

It's really stupid though. If you buy a device which comes with the battery in the package they will send it but try ship a spare battery they won't.

Got my power bank via address pal this morning. Order last Tuesday I think. Delivered to AP Thursday and my local PO this morning. There's a hugr sticker on the pack saying contains lithium ion batteries but still got it. Maybe they didn't send by air over the weekend?

I assume Address Pal are shipping it across by ferry, which I don't think has an issue with Lithium Batteries. Amazon got in trouble for shipping batteries by airplane.
