Explosion in Manhattan

A large explosion in the Chelsea area of Manhattan.
Unknown yet hat caused the explosion. Lots of reports of a massive explosion.
Some reports that an improvised explosive device was used.

Reports of between 14 and 63 people injured, one report that people have died.
Lets hope no serious injuries and report of dead are not true a this early stage.

Don Lemon admitted they missed it earlier on because they were showing Obama.

I live in New York with my wife, we were 10 blocks away having dinner. Got two texts from home asking were we okay, other than that you'd have no clue. Everyone just carrying on, couldn't care less. Non story really.

What's stupid about what I said? Every part is factual. New York is just normal New York tonight. Yes it's a tragedy that 25 people are hurt, I'm glad we were elsewhere but everyone we saw in both Greenwich and midtown was just enjoying their Saturday night as we were.

I'm not putting myself in needless danger obviously, if I'm told not to go somewhere by authorities I won't, but you have to get on with life, otherwise the lunatics win. I was just relaying that I'm in New York, not far from the incident and it's like every other Saturday night since I got here.

It's quite close, they're both on the west side based around 9th Ave, Chelsea stops around 30th id say and hella kitchen only really starts north of 42nd street bus terminal, so a bit of a gap between. Chelsea is lovely though, the market and the highline are great places to spend a few hours

Yeah, it was. It's not the -easiest- type to make, but it's not one of the harder ones either. It wouldn't take a great deal of research for someone to learn how to make one off the internet.

Article on BBC say there is no known link to terrorism but the explosion was definitely intentional.

These kind of comments don't help matters. It would make more sense to say you don't know the perpetrators motive but I think any bomb planted would be considered terrorism.

I'd bet whoever did this had a political motive.

Yes it's a bit ridiculous, somebody makes an IED, explodes it in Manhattan but it most probably wasn't terrorism?????

I am distinctly dubious on the "it's definitely not terrorism" thing too, unless they reckon there's a motive against the owner of the building. I assume they mean that there's no evidence that it's -Islamic- terrorism which is the obvious variety at the moment. There was mention of a note being found with one of the bombs (I assume an unexploded one - and also, who the hell leaves their manifesto WITH THE BOMB? Doesn't that rather preclude anyone getting to read the thing?), so perhaps something is confirmed in there that makes it likely to be something else.
