Vodafone are advising it could take 30 days for preordered iPhone 7 to arrive (and they're being prioritised) so looks like it could be a bit long than a few days wait!

Just came in here to say that. Iv been told that in their "talk to" forum. Have requested a call to cancel I can afford the outright price but thought I'd go a different route this time, bad idea.

I preordered on the 9th and got it today, suppose it all depends on when you order.

Is there a big difference between the 6s and the 7? I only have my 6s since April and I'm torn between changing now or holding out for the 7s if there is going to be one. I'd probably lose too much if I change now as I bought the phone outright. Oh decisions decisions

Agreed it depends when and what phone you ordered. However, it is very poor customer service from Vodafone when they issue no communication to preorder customers (no email, text etc...) about delays and how it took me several calls to their call centre to be finally told it might be delivered within the next 4 weeks.

I walked into a Three store today and picked up a 128GB in black. I went to pre-order online but my upgrade wasn't showing due to my contract not expiring for another few weeks.

Anyone know if Compu B have any of the Apple silicone cases in stock? Nothing on their website.

Managed to get my order cancelled with Voda chat even though they said it couldn't be done I wasn't taking no for an answer. Once the money goes back on my card I'm ordering off Apple don't mind the wait. Last time I try to go bill pay in this shambles of a country

Overall I wouldn't say this phone is a big update from the 6s. Even coming from the 6, there might not be too many differences.

    I've been using a 5c the last 6 months+ so it's been a huge leap for me.

The home button definitely isn't as bad as I'd imagined. Been using an iPhone since 2009 so I'm fairly used to the old home button, but I haven't found it to be that hard to get used to.

Removing slide to unlock in iOS 10 is definitely gonna take a lot of use to switch, still keep swiping on the screen.

You can change the unlock settings to go back to the old way. Settings-general-accessibility-home button

That just allows you to change the unlock method from a click to just testing your finger on the button. Slide to unlock is gone for good.

Unless they launch a 7s mid year next September will be a brand new iPhone 8.
Apple will be celebrating the 10th anniversary and you can bet it will a big update. Some people are suggesting the next phone will be made from ceramic which potentially could be huge. Can't wait to be honest.

Ah yes, sorry read your post wrong, your right that will take getting used to. For me the click to unlock doesn't make sense, turned it off straight away.

Anyone know what the story is with meteor regarding delivery? Has anyone recieved their order yet.

Ordered last Friday and nothing yet. Is there a backlog similar to Vodafone?

People get emotional about football teams, in another country, they have zero connection with
Some people go nuts over shoes or bags

    Different strokes for different folks

Noticing a big speed bump from 6 to 7 but then again brand new phone vs two year old phone. Switching tabs in safari or reopening safari is pretty instant.

Home button is fine, better than expected, but it does feel a little like the whole bottom half of the phone is clicking rather than just the button. The engine must be nearer the back as it seems to be felt more in the palm of my hand behind the phone, rather than under the thumb. Haptic feedback throughout the OS, from mute switch to opening control centre or swiping an email, is a nice subtle touch.

The camera is amazing. Only played with it a little bit indoors but very strong colours and works well in low light. Big step up from the 6 imo.

Matt black finish is lovely, probably about as fingerprinty as space grey, but just more visible given the colour.

Haven't got it in me to run it under a tap yet.

As with previous new iPhones, there does seem to be a yellowing tint on the lower half of the screen, will give it a few days and hopefully it will clear.

Not an audiophile so cannot discern any real difference with lightening vs 3.5mm, I think maybe a little clearer but likely it's just confirmation bias on my part.

Moving from the 6 I definitely can feel the extra few grams and millimetres in depth, but overall the phone feels solid.

Someone had a jet black at work today ... wow do they show all the fingerprints! It would drive me crazy. The new home button was a bit weird as well.

Just setting mine up now after getting it in work today. Loving it. The home button is cool and im coming from an iphone 5 so its definitely a change for me but i love it.

Im actually naked on the front as i never got a screen protector but can anyone confirm if there is any difference to a 6s in terms of screen protectors? Im gonna nip into tesco tomorrow and get a 6s one to get me through a week or so until i get a 7 one if need be.

I ordered one of the 6s protectors before it was discovered there were small differences between the screens. It arrived today and it is literally millimetres off. It'll do for the meantime though. Just covers a tiny bit of the edge of the earpiece.

Thanks. Yeah I can definitely suffer a bit of a wonky screen protector rather than have the fear of a scratched screen.

Also... my Spigen liquid armor is beautiful on the new phone. Lovely bit of grip on it but hardly adds any bulk to the phone.

Not "emotional" just don't get bad customer service. All they had to do was stop pre orders once they hit their full stock quota or put a message saying 2-3 week backlog once limits hit. Not continue pre orders up to launch & then not tell customers they aren't getting their order until 6 hours after shops open with people walking in & getting handed phones. A 30 day wait is a joke especially when stumping €500 up front for a product

Could somone please point me in the direction of a decent but not bulky or pricey :) case - shock horror Ive never bought anything on amazon!
I have the phone in a cheapo pennys case that i got in pennys for my 6, it does fit but not the right opening for the camera lens location

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,360 ✭✭✭DubDJ

If you wait weeks/months for a phone and then on the day your finally expecting to get it, only to be told you need to wait another month it's perfectly acceptable to be emotional. I'd be pissed big time.

I remember two years ago I tried to go billpay with Meteor, they completely messed my order up and I ended up cancelling and buying direct from Apple. It's not a nice experience. First world problem and all but still annoying.

Family member due an upgrade with Meteor on 6th October. Put their name down today for an 6 128gb matt black. They reckon they will have them in stock in 2 weeks. Is this wishful thinking ?

Cheers Coleman316, will go have a look now. Did yours take long to arrive?
I have insurance with my ulsterbank acc which covers accidental damage etc but I HATE scuffs and scratches so just need to get something on it that will prevent them rather than a big tank of a case

No it arrived ahead of schedule. I think i ordered on a friday and i got it on monday. Amazon are excellent at delivering on time or even ahead of time. It'll tell you when you go look at the case. Im insured through ulster bank too but the case gives it better grip and i want it to remain scratchless for when i eventually sell it. The camera also sticks out at the back so putting a case on it helps it lay flat.
