I was called a homophobe

Today my boyfriend got a text from a Facebook friend of his. I had apparently gone through her whole profile, selected a picture, and tagged an American friend in the pic. I didn't believe it until I saw the screenshot. My profile had tagged a random friend on this strangers pic. I'm guessing cat on the laptop (she once logged me into boards and posted "m" in the Dublin forum) or phone in pocket. I never looked at this lady's profile.

There was a tag from my profile. Because the lady who was tagged is religious, this woman said it was calculated and I did it because i hate gays. That level of self obsession and idiocy I don't like, so I blocked her. Now apparently I'm a homophobe!

It's very hurtful actually. Persecution complex comes mind but being called a homophobe really annoyed me. I should let it slide but wow. Is this how much gay people actually fear for themselves in Ireland?

Your cat clicked on someone's profile, went through their photos and tagged your friend in one of them?

    Not possible.

When stuff like this happens, I just think back on 25 years of tech support and muse that much stranger things have happened, far more often, just because computers sometimes glitch in weird ways. You know you're not a homophobe. Once this woman figures out that this is not a thing you do, you got no benefit out of it, and she was not harmed, she'll probably forget about it. Don't you sit there fretting and making more out of it than it is.

Mutual friend, opened profile and pic, a lot easier than you think! I have no interest in this lesbian lady and her family. My friend said "no issue" instead of "no interest".

This woman should know that I do dislike her and have issues with her, because I loath self obsessed people.

    Not gays.

I wondered what would happen if you replied, "oh, I didn't know you were gay. I just thought you were funny-looking". :D

(Don't actually do that. Man, it's no fun being a grownup. lol)

So many things I want to say but can't! Tagging a "holy"friend means I hate gays. Yes, the way I express my hatred of your sexual orientation is by going through pictures on Facebook and tagging religious friends. Nothing better to do. And that's my way of expressing my homophobia?

Thanks!! I never thought Amelia might be a homophobe but then I never sat down with her and had a chat either, especially what she meant by "M" in the Dublin forum. She could be smarter than I credit her.

Who cares what she thinks, you dont know her, she doesnt know you. Neither of your lives are affected. Just because she called you a homophobe doesnt mean that you are one. It doesnt matter.

My life is affected by being accused of stalking and hatred.

Ignore it, youve already explained yourself and blocked her. You cant stalk someone who youve blocked. She can accuse all she wants, doesnt make it true.

She was probably commenting on the motorways around there and their toll problems. Hell, I got carded for that (since I'm a country bumpkin, and a newly licensed driver in Ireland). She'd better watch herself. :D

I shouldn't laugh at cat names (I had a Snark and a Bandersnatch and currently have a Jabberwock), but Amelia is such a cute one I couldn't help myself ;)

She probably didn't mean to send that text to your boyfriend, her cat did it by accident.

Doubt it with the confirmation bias.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

If OP was a celebrity they would simply say they were "hacked". Great excuse. No one can disprove it, everyone knows it's a lie but they have to accept it. OP should have said they were hacked

No I wasn't hacked, I'd know if I was, and still think it's grasping at straws that this lady's life is so interesting to everyone that someone would hack my account, find a photo of her, and tag a religious friend of mine, all because she's gay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,477 ✭✭✭Riddle101

Just talk to the person if it's that big of a deal and try to explain yourself. I mean the cat thing might be a little hard to take, but at least if you talk and get it all out, it might make things better. Then again, unless this person is really important to you or you have problems with the person, then why care so much? Just forget about it and move on.

Oh, nothing that dramatic. I had an old, unused Facebook account hacked by a bot once, and it did all sorts of silly $#!+ before I caught up to it.

There is a guy I know that I don't like.
He's gay but more importantly he is massive cnut.
    Gays can be cnuts too.

I'm sure there are sections within LGBT movement that don't get along - people often don't love each other 100% (and there is nothing wrong with that..)

You don't have to announce that you don't like somebody but its not because theyre gay :pac: Theres plenty of bad people out there who happen to be gay..and its okay to hate a bad person even if theyre gay..I think most people are okay with that!
