Is there anywhere worth living down in Mexico at all?

Like with high standards of living, lots of jobs available, no old moany whingers like the people who frequent this website, cultural folk who don't watch English soccer and british reality tv all day. Everytime I suggest a place I get told it's terrible, like Dublin, Galway, Cork (sorry don't know any other cities).

I'm looking to broaden my horizon and get a 6 month lease down there someday. Wouldn't be able to hack the accents for much longer.

I checked with my sister-in-law, who is a Mexican immigrant and lives in San Antonio, Texas, and she said, "Tell them either San Miguel or Puerto Vallarta". (I am pretty sure she means San Miguel de Allende.) Of the two, I'd choose San Miguel, but I like smaller towns and after many years a resident of Houston, I am f*^&ing tired of hurricanes, so I go for the inland destination :) It's not all that far from Mexico City, but it is far enough that you don't have to deal with big-city problems. Puerto Vallarta is large, prosperous, full of internationals, not unreasonably expensive, and easy to get along in. Yes, most people understand at least a little English, and you can get by on surprisingly little Spanish at first.

Eh, give it time to settle down and to get over being a tourist trap. But not a bad thought. My memory puts it in the path of too much seasonal weather (the kind that goes around in circles fast).

Presumably by Mexico you mean Ireland and being from South Belfast, you're from the Village, Annadale or Sandy Row.

You only know three cities? And they're all Irish?

You definitely need to get out more (and not nessecarily all the way down to Mexico...)

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Do you think you can just show up in Mexico and live there? That they have dole? That if they had dole, they'd just hand it out to some random Irish fella? You're in for a few surprises.

Please let us know how you get on.

Trump hit the nail on the head.
    We cannot allow illegal immigration.
If the people of Ireland, Mexico, Philippines, the middle east and Africa can flee to other countries for a better life, the governments of their country will never improve the lot of the citizen.
Those in power already live the life of Reilly and don't care about the people, but if the people have no where to go, they will rise up and demand a better life.
Look at the world, all the hell holes have never had a violent revolution, the countries that are successful today have seen the public rise up and demand a better life, in the world today the citizens of hells holes flee to successful countries. 150 year ago it was not a option , you had to stay and fight for a better life.

Well, let me just go rent a time machine so I can tell that to all my ancestors from various countries who emigrated from their home countries and immigrated to the US around that time.

Also, you forgot America itself. I wouldn't go back to Texas if you deported me. Too many ignorant, bigoted Trump supporters and people who think "illegal immigration" is something a country "allows".

I don't really get the mexico thing. Nobody from Ireland is clamoring to cross the border and live in NI. In fact there is prob far more northerners living down south than vise versa. The pay is better down here too.

Perfect example, you fled Ireland looking for a better life, but the world has moved on, its hard everywhere.
Now you have come back home to Ireland and will have to engage with life to make it better instead off running away to find a better life, you will have to work for a better life here in Ireland.
No where in the world for work shy people in the west to flee to anymore, the result of globalisation

Fled Ireland? I'm an American citizen and immigrant. The last common ancestor between me and my Irish husband hadn't come down out of the trees yet.

The truth? The truth is we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You?

May want to reconsider this that you posted tonight then:
    Question
I drink 10 pints in a pub and die the next morning of a hangover, but when I'm at home drinking cans and put down 15+ the next day no where near the pub hangover, is there something in the pub beer that gives a worse hangover?
(no food consumed at home or pub)
