Query more than anything. Does anyone have any rare breeds that they get work out of for extra work on movies. (Thinking historical, Vikings, Game of Thrones etc).

Not that I am seriously thinking about it but my work has changed totally that I have total flexibility and was thinking of maybe getting a few of the older breeds to go along with my usual sheep.

Ireland is small and it is quiet niche, think one guy pretty much has all the trade in the Republic with another guy having all the trade in the North.

Think the main issue in terms of getting into the market is you would need a bit of everything to compete as that is what they offer. Also you would need an in, in terms of getting in there.....

I have a friend who is heavily involved in the industry, this is just what I have picke up off him over the years.

Some years ago there was a travelling farm which went to schools. It had a collection of famr animals in a truck. Not sure if it is still on the road. Might work doubling up with film work you are looking at. You will need a truck for transport to film locations in any event. Rare breeds probably way more interesting as can see common breeds any day driving around.

Thanks for the feedback. Just a thought really for doing something a little different. Im in Wicklow and the new studio in Ashford (Vikings being filmed there) is doing really well, with talk of it doubling over the next while!

Agreed though, it is probably very easy for someone with the right connections to cover most of the country
