Don't temp me:confused:. I'm also considering the gear S2 or the Moto 360 2nd gen. Both well have new models coming out soon though.

I've been tempted several times but it looks feckin huge.
Way too big for my girly wrist.

Bought one of these about 3 weeks from Amazon.es. €250

Absolutely love it. I think it's the best looking smart watch there is.

Gear S3 was just announced, I'm waiting on the 3rd Gen 360 myself, I have the 360 sport which specs wise is the same ( + GPS) as the second gen and that's quick with decent battery so if they start discounting the second gen it would still be a good option.

The Huawei is a nice watch but I think it would be worth waiting a few more weeks as all the 3rd Gen devices are just around the corner and would still cost around the same price so you could end up liking one of the new ones more and if not I'd imagine the Huawei would have a price drop soon anyways.

My thoughts exactly. I'll wait till closer to Christmas.

After seeing the Samsung gear 3 I think I will wait.

    Great price though

The reason these are being discounted is because the next gen will be announced soon. The next get will not be this price.

Down to 189 sterling. Great price

Send Amazon a quick message and they will probably refund you the 20 pound difference. They're really good for stuff like that.

I have 4 watches already but I'm so tempted by this. Damn u BA.
Can u put a nato strap on this? Or would it be too top heavy?

Tried it, they told me to cancel it and reorder it at the new price.

Really torn on this is it worth getting considering I use iPhone 6 or do you need android phone to really get most from it?

From reading up I remember one r two saying u needed android for all the bells and whistles as such. Itll work just not well. Although some of the reviews are oldish now so maybe it has improved.

I own one since may 2016, brilliant piece of kit. Bought for 230 sterling. Battery last for nearly 2.5 days for me. The only thing probably missing from it is ambient light sensor but other than that very happy with it. Stylish and very useful. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in buying a smart watch. Obviously the newer models of Samsung and huawei itself will be coming out soon but at this price, it is a no brainer.

Do you use it with an iphone or android phone though? If IPhone how well does it interact with messages, e-mail, siri?, music etc?

I've an iPhone and considered Android Wear before but ultimately decided against it. A lot of features don't work and some of the health tracking stuff won't work well with the iOS ecosystem. Siri isn't supported at all. Also I seen mixed messages saying the app had to be left running in the background all the time. It's worth googling and watching a few YouTube videos to see what it's like but it's nothing close to the features you get paired with an Android phone.

Did you get an apple watch in the end and if so recommended?

Don't want to go off topic on this thread but I did go for the Apple Watch instead. Check the Apple forum for the thread with a few opinions.

What I will say, and this goes for any smart watch really, is that they aren't an essential purchase. If you had to go without you probably wouldn't miss it as much as a phone or laptop.

I use the health and activity features on mine so it definitely makes it useful, but just for notifications and stuff like that it isn't life changing.

Priced as low as it is the Huawei Watch would be good for someone who's into their gadgets or if money wasn't a problem. It's one of the better reviewed watches of all Android Wear devices.

I have an android phone. How easy is it to set up this watch?
    What apps do I install?
    Cheers

When you power it on a wizard setup guide starts on the watch and guides you through the very simple 2 minute setup...I use it with Sleep for Android among other things..

Just picked up a Huawei W1 in Dublin T2 duty free. €200. It comes with the standard leather strap which is nice, but I'm looking a buying a stainless and silicone strap on Amazon listed below

    Silicone
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01EKWRUXS/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A3GGF254WORAOA&psc=1

    Stainless
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01E2Q212C/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=A1ONX0A7KTBVUW&psc=1

I'm not into the Milanese type personally. Can anyone recommend reasonably priced alternatives before I pull the trigger on these?

I'm nearly sure that stainless steel one is the same one I ordered from Amazon and didn't fit the watch, I even brought it to a jewellers thinking I was doing something wrong and they agreed it was too big for the lugs.

Edit: Yep that's the one, don't buy.

Thanks for the update. Just checking that you ordered the 18mm strap?
Did you order a different stainless strap in the end?

A few of these in the Amazon warehouse at €150

The original Huawei steel band is fantastic quality but at €60 it's expensive

Yep the 18mm and it's actually a 22mm that arrived 🙠and no I had ordered a brown leather band with the stainless and I really liked the look of that so I've kind of alternated between that and the original black leather.

If you do find a good looking stainless strap that fits properly please link it here and I might buy it myself because I'd still like to try one with the watch.

Can anyone recommend a fitness app for the Huawei watch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,494 ✭✭✭harr

Mine arrived this morning everthing working perfectly not a mark on it...working well with iPhone it has all the Notifications I need ...in my opinion a lot nicer looking than the Apple Watch which I had for a year..

The only thing I dislike about the Huawei watch is the fact they put won't allow my phone connect to my car's Bluetooth while connected to the watch. I have to go into settings, connectivity, bluetooth and deselect play phone voice on watch.
I haven't had this issue on previous android wear watches.

I'm guessing your previous android wear watches didn't have a speaker.

Your 100%. It's my first android wear with a speaker which is great. Would have been an idea for Huawei to have an option available for users in the settings to set a priority for watch or car speaker output.
Now that i know about it, I can switch it over when needed.
