Back down to earth so... :(

    Details are here.

I think we've a great chance of going back up actually; stronger team than the one that got promoted last time. Celbridge to start is tough, and Ballinasloe in the final round could be a huge game. And of course have to consider Curragh.

At the bottom, not sure if Bray will have the strength in depth to cope with an extra two boards; they seemed to have a 1200 on board 6 in the Ennis most of the time last year. Drogheda have shown themselves able for the Heidenfeld before though, so maybe Lucan to go down with Bray?

Worth noting that Celbridge's matches have been moved to Fridays at a venue yet to be confirmed. Don't know when the last team to play on Fridays was?

Getting excited now for another season. Love the leagues - arguably the best way to keep one's mental health intact through an Irish winter.
Pity about the 2 month gap in the middle of the season, although I know it's very tricky finding available dates.
Anyway for the hell of it, my predictions are:
    Ballinasloe to win
Curragh to bounce back up as runners up.
Bray, Benildus, Elm Mount and Rathmines likely to be strong too.
    Inchicore the dark horse (hopefully)

    Celbridge 2-6 St Benildus.

Not a bad result given we were missing five players. :)

Thumbs up for Celbridge's new venue. Much more comfortable than the old place.

That's an impressive win; Bray had a couple of strong players out, and got a good win, against Ballinasloe in the first round.

Thanks, Yeah they fielded a pretty strong team. Luck was on our side yesterday.

    Inchicore 1.5-6.5 St Benildus

Inchicore unlucky not to score another point or two in fairness. But a third big win in a row for us.

Yep. Well done to the Benildus lads. Very strong team. They'll be difficult to stop.

Drogheda's website gives it as 2½-½ to them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭flipsake

Well I wasn't there but I was told it was 2 draws and a loss for us.
It's possible their chess is better than their maths.

    Rathmines 1.5-6.5 St Benildus.

We had varying degrees of advantages in the three drawn games; could conceivably have been 8-0.

But just a freakishly good day at the office for us really; won't have another like that all season.

Any of the Curragh guys know if the big match on Saturday is on the telly?

(Curragh v St Benildus that is, not Chelsea v Arsenal!)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,168 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

It can be if you agree to it!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,279 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Happy enough for it to be anyway

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,168 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Should be able to do so then. Division 3 match is on at the same time (in another room) and it is being broadcast.
