A new law being drafted by the German justice minister could/will lead to your driving license being suspended for breaking the law. The pink elephant being used is it will be used on rich people because fines don't work. The German AA have already said this is rubbish as rich people can afford drivers and taxis. Obviously this law when passed will effect everyone. Heiko Maas the minister in question has been a leader in the effort to stamp out ANY decent about the refugees in Germany. Doors are being kicked in here in Germany by police if you FB or tweet about this issue in a negative light. Be in no doubt this law will be used to silence people. The threat of loosing your license and probably your job will naturally be very effective.
Personally I find this terrifying. I've lived in Germany for years however myself my German girlfriend and our baby daughter are leaving. We have had enough and are both giving up our jobs and moving to Ireland in the new year. So many Germans feel the same way but they feel they can't say anything or be labeled with the most horrific of labels in modern germany a 'Nazi'.
These are the lengths the German government are considering even after appointing a former Stazi official to censor social media with regards to anti refugee post online.

One question: wtf is the pink elephant? I've heard of red herrings, wild geese, elephants in the room, pink pounds but the pink elephant? I'm racking my brains to see if I ever met it in all my gay travels.

Hey OP, why are you moving to Ireland exactly? Where abouts in Germany are you living now? I don't believe any doors are getting kicked in if you FB or tweet about this issue in a negative light, however, if you post hate speech then that's a different matter to be honest.

People should be able to have free speech and question everything, but it shouldn't be a free pass to incite hatred or violence.

The right to travel is a fundamental human right.

Having your driving licence taken away doesn't mean you can't travel, it just means you can't drive.

There is nothing in the link you posted about it being used to prosecute people being mean about refugees, have you a better one to back up your claims?

    I'm Irish.

So why wouldn't I move my family here?

Having a German flag as your profile pic on a FB group page is enough for a judge here in germany to label your group a hate group and therefore label you as a fascist

Your initial post is sensationalist, this post is also sensationalist. The job you gave up, it wasn't in some newspaper like the daily mail, or the sun per chance?

Why would you move your family to Ireland, quit your jobs etc. German media getting to you? Again, where abouts are you living?

Having a German flag on your facebook profile is NOT going to label your group a hate group. If your agenda is anti-regugee, then yea, you're rightly labelled a hate group. “The war and economic refugees are flooding our country. They bring terror, fear, sorrow. They rape our women and put our children at risk.” was their first post. Bit of a generalisation, no?

Yes you have a right to travel in your privately owned mode of transportation. Breaking the law for some other offence should not effect this.

If your were aware of the politician in question you'd understand why I'm linking the refugees issue to this purposes law.

You can be brought to court and prosecuted for anything the government considers hate speech the laws are so open interpretation that anything can be used against you. However if you are a member of the religion of peace you can basically get away with anything.

Bit ironic all this - a migrant living in Germany complaining about other migrants in Germany.

OP, you're being a tad dramatic, don't you think? You've every right to move to Ireland with your family, but we have some undesirable types here too! If you're worried about terrorism, stay away from the right wing newspapers here too, they find explosives and guns every other day up North.

In Germany, you can already lose your driving license for cycling a bike drunk. Are you living in East Germany maybe?

Because of its dark past, Germany is paranoid about racist, xenophobic and anti-immigrant speech. It's got to the point where Germans have to be very careful what they say, especially with respect to immigrants - although there is disturbing evidence that some immigrants have been engaged in very anti-social activity.

I think moving because of this is a tad over-reacting OP.

It's not true, the OP is over-exaggerating. The couple in question created a group called the Anti-Refugee movement. Their first post was:
“The war and economic refugees are flooding our country. They bring terror, fear, sorrow. They rape our women and put our children at risk.”

That is pretty much the definition of hate speech and the couple were just given a fine and a suspended sentence.

Not true at all. There is a continuous debate happening at the moment about the influence of post-war immigration, the principles of multiculturalism, and the current refugee situation on the fabric of a wider German society. You'll find it played out amongst players in the self-same society who aren't frothing at the mouth loons from the fringes of left wing and right wing politics. Where most decisions are made.

What part of the statement is untrue?

The part of the statement where you said that having a flag as your profile picture is enough to be labelled as a hate group is untrue. Starting a hate group is enough to have you labelled as a fascist.

And I live in Germany too so, no, you're not necessarily in a better position to understand. I have never felt unsafe in Germany, and I live directly across from the refugee house in our community. In my experience, your views put you in the minority, most Germans I know believe that Merkel will not be voted out soon.

I don't know if you're truthful or not but have been practically told my own european friends with bad reports on the situation , can't exist , I''m sympathetic if nothing else and willing to try to find out more . .
If there is media censorship how can anyone check , without relying on more right wing sources who might be lying or who might be the only ones reporting on things .
If it's not true at all why try to shut you down . That doesn't seem right .

If I mention a friend who gave a bad report similar to the op it is implied that there can be no such person with such a negative view because the other person knows someone from my friends area who had nothing bad to say about the subject. it's as if it's impossible for a person who has had a bad experience or view of anything related to this subject to exist . That is all i meant , not literally .

off now as people can take comments too literally and life's too short

I agree that there is bizarre downplaying of what's going on,
Aye and it can be very difficult to figure out what is actually going on. Ironic given the age of information we're living in. The mainstream media have certain biases. The BBC is almost painfully right on to the point where I simply wouldn't trust their reporting on this particular matter. Then you have Fox/Sky panic baiting the hard of thinking to the Right of centre. Alternative media just amps up the biases, often to the level of farce. Never mind the "barbarians at the gate" stuff, the West is at war with itself on a few levels.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
