That there is no opinion, activity, or cultural concept that can't be construed as being uniquely Irish. And that this is always a sign of the inferiority of Irish people.

That 99 percent of the time the sole reason for posting a new thread containing a question is so the OP can get a bunch of people to agree with them.

Some people are not dicks, and can be incredibly supportive when you need them.
Many people appear to have learned their 'logic' from wikipedia... or boards.ie.
'Relevance' is not a well-understood word.
Laughing out loud at someone's post on a packed bus gets you very odd looks.

    From AH?

All muslims are terrorists. All travelers will rob you blind. Refugees are bad. Every single person on here is an expert on guns and will likely have rolling conversations about this.

That some people must be employed full time to post on boards because there are a few faces that are almost always the first to post on a new thread. That's the only logical conclusion.

People get offended by the strangest of things, and it's mostly stuff that doesn't have any impact on their lives at all.

I have learnt how easy it can be to get a sense of a person simply from the words they type. I've seen the passion that's inside so many of you when discussing topics of importance. Sometimes I find myself scratching my head in complete amazement that certain views are held. I've learnt how worked up I can get around discussions relating to mental health, dating, and feminism.

I've learnt how easy it can be to pretend and to fool yourself. This place can be a sounding board for narcissists and people who have very little self awareness. But I love that too because it just adds more colour to the place. I've seen how lovely posters can be towards each other. One simply sentence in the middle of a thread, "I hope you're ok". There is an awful lot of compassion and life experience among the me me me's and trolls.

I've felt all warm inside reading the trivial happy thread. It's lovely to know what makes you smile. Sometimes I've felt irrational anger and hurt inside of me because of a post. That surprises me and I have to remind myself to have some perspective.

I have sadly learnt the lack of empathy displayed for those less off or who are different. The criticism of the mother on the street with her child, the attempts to bash those in receipt of social welfare, the assumption that all muslim people are evil, the chips on the shoulders when it comes to women or men.

I've learnt that this place is more than just a forum on a website. It means something to people. A bit of an escape, or a distraction, where intellectual or silly muscles get exercised. Funny little threads pop up now and then and we have a bit of craic on them. Like the poor fella and his constipation. Gods love him.

    I love After Hours :)

it has taught me to quickly determine how repetitive some posters become. Similarly, one can find out the posters who ignore replies to their questions when they do not agree with the answer the poster wants.

That spite and hate are alive and well.

That empathy and compassion are alive and well.

That people can't hide their prejudices nearly as well as they seem to think they can.

That there is nothing a person can fall victim to that someone won't blame them for.

That people can, seemingly unawares, repeat the same thing eleventy million times over.

Aonghus Von Bismarck should be the next James Bond.

Before anyone thinks I'm insulting him I'm not, his posts are entertaining and I like the fact that he's his own man with his own style. De brother does his head in though, but that's even more entertaining for everyone.

Forget Idris Elba, forget Tom what's his face, put your money on Aonghus to be the next Bond. Probably already has the Aston Martin.
