The cameras suck on HTC phones. A lot more value for money in the Oneplus 3

Ah yeah, but this thread is a bargain alert thread for the 10, not one asking for which slightly inferior phones can be bought for slightly cheaper ;)

Camera is supposed to be much improved on this

I don't know about that one .

Had a Samsung S6 edge plus before this a phone that is close to 800 euros sim free. I rate the one plus there higher then it well 10 times better. The battery lasts near 2 days compete to charge it twice day .....

HTC, Samsung etc. fools and their money. Buy a one plus 3. Or at least google it and then criticise. It's a beast of a phone. You're just paying for a brand for the 700/800 euro androids.

    Yeah, I also have the S6 edge+.

Anyway, great find OP. And yes, the camera on the 10 is great, and the latest 1.90 base offers further improvements.

HTC have the best software support of any Android device (bar Nexus devices), so always a great choice.

    Very true.

If this gives you a idea i work in a large tech company every 2nd person in the office has a one plus three ........

People just seem to look down on them as there not a brand you can show off ...

I think there a useless phone they only phone i ever got rid in less then a year .

Had a Note 3 and 4 before it way way better phones all round.

S6 edge plus looks great thats about all it has going for it. IT runs the shocking Samsung touch Wiz that just makes the system lag like no tomorrow.

One Plus Three is running there own Oxagan OS its more or less stock 6.0.1 and runs so so so fast compete to the S6 edge plus.

I am in the minority here (most people wouldn't care less about this) but you cannot reclaim VAT on the Oneplus phones, i.e. the €400 you pay does not include VAT to the Irish revenue. If you are taking that into account then the savings are not that impressive.

Well it does now sadly as you buy it with in the European Union as it's shipped from Germany or Poland and magical if no Irish vat was paid on the one plus three how is every one getting them into Ireland? As you will be paying vat and you can claim back on it.....

And for the people who need to it is what 1% of buyers?.

    1% would be being generous.

On the HTC, they're probably the only manufacturer I wouldn't consider for a new phone. From what I've seen of the design of the new Nexus 6, it's got that awful back now too.

You read my post I said 1% of buyers are prob needing to claim it back.

Get a one plus three it looks like a HTC and a iPhone had a child ha ha.

The One Plus 3 is great value but you cant make apples to oranges comparisons to HTC & Samsung. There are still huge question marks about after sales and software support.
Corners have to be cut to reach that price point. The camera on the 10 is also miles ahead off the OP3.

Every review I've read says the camera on the 10 is still terrible. Much improved over previous phones, but still the weakest point on the 10. I'm currently using an old HTC One M7 as a backup while I wait for a new phone, and I absolutely love the phone - except the speakers blew and the camera takes purple pictures. Will never invest in HTC again after how badly this camera let me down.

Edit: I would like to just say I don't think this phone is comparable to the Oneplus - it's going up against LG G5 and Samsung S7. As someone said, after sales support and all that won't be the same on a Oneplus, you get what you pay for :)

I think you should add some quotes as it what you've said doesn't match up with the majority of reviews ive read which put the camera on par the the GS7 and G5.

The HTC M8 is their best phone,I think they should have waited longer to release the M9.
The M8 camera, sound quality and build was far superior, releasing phones too soon after the other isn't a great idea....

The purple tint was manufacturing fault with the M7, and you could have it replaced under warranty. Plenty of people in Ireland received an M8 when returning their M7 under warranty.

No idea how a great bargain alert thread turned into a 'X phone is better' or 'HTC sux' thread, but regarding the 10:

    - Best build quality you're going to get. HTC have been leading the way for years on this, and all of a sudden it becomes important because Sammy make a glass phone. This phone can take an absolute beating.
    - Camera on par with anything out there, and HTC are known for getting more and more out of the hardware with every software update.
    - HTC have the best software support of any Android manufacturer.
    - Amazing sound quality. If you like your music, this is the phone to get.
    - HTC are very developer friendly. Might not matter to most people, but a huge deal to me.

As I said, this is a great bargain on a great device.

I don;t mean to go off topic here but just on the subject of top of the line androids as is being discussed here. As someone who's used Samsung Galaxy's since 2010 I'll be buying again in the next few months and while the OnePlus3 really is worthy of attention at €400, when you can get phones like this HTC and the Samsung Galaxy S7 for only €100 to €150 more, I still just wouldn't be comfortable going for the Chinese phone here. I just think when you factor everything together and consider things like the 2 year warranty on Samsung phones, its a bit of a no-brainer. I think the phones form the established manufacturers will hold their value a bit better too.

By the way, if you're suspicious of that eBay link for the Galaxy S7, people in the Android forum have ordered from that source and are happy with their purchases

Camera on the M7 was replaced, still ended up happening. M8 isn't much better. This is a good price for great build quality no doubt.

What does that have to do with the camera quality of the 10 ?

The M7 and M8 were the only camera's on the market that could actually take non blurry photo's in medium - low light condition.

What type of camera is in the 10 anyway? They had messed up on the earlier ones with the larger pixel thing (ultra pixel wasn't it?). Samsung have shown with the S7 that approach still doesn't really work.

It's very similar to the Nexus 6P, but it also has OIS.

Samsung vindicated HTC, the S7 uses a large pixels and so did last year's nexus's & the 10

Larger pixels was the way to go HTC just went overboard with the M7.

Not from what I've seen. The S6 is a good bit better than the S7 unless you're taking photos in the dark.

I dunno, I have the S6 edge+ and the 10, and can't see any clear winner. I'm not inspecting at full zoom on my PC, though.

I also had no problem with the M7 and M8 cameras. My kids were very young at the time, and had a lot of photos in average light with them moving around. They seemed to work better in those conditions than whatever Sammy/Sony my other half had at the time.

Probably gonna get slated for saying this but gonna say it anyway.

This is a thread for the HTC 10. The price that Op has posted for it is the best price i have seen hence it is a bargain.

I own a one plus 3. I prefer that phone but can appreciate that the above is good value.

If you can buy the HTC for less than 560 then post here, other than that would a comparison discussion not take place on the Android forums?

No, I have to vehemently disagree. The beauty of the Bargains Alerts forum isn't just the initial alert that people post, but the further information you can learn from follow up posts.

I think it is absolutely ok for a person to post one deal and for others to follow up with other potential deals in the same category and compare and contrast them.

Sure maybe all the person wants is the HTC10 and they learn about this deal from the first post. But another person might read on, learn of the OPO3 and realise it is good enough for their needs and save themselves another €160.

This is the heart of what makes the BA forum brilliant, it is a community of people sharing ideas and information to help one another out.

In that case, things that is better on the 10 than the OP3:

    - Build quality
    - Screen
    - Camera
    - Sound
    - OS
    - Expandable storage
    - Software support
    - Dev support

I guess you have to weigh up whether this is worth €160 :pac:

I'd put camera out there as debatable too, considering it will probably clap out and need to be replaced in 6 months :D

It was only the M7. You're also covered by warranty for 2 years, and most people here got their M7 replaced by an M8, so not a huge issue. Still interesting what sticks with people, HTC really shot themselves in the foot by trying to go too far a different direction with cameras.

They have been true innovators over the years, though.

Don't get me wrong - I will 100% own a HTC at some point down the line, but none of their recent stuff has made me want to go back. The M7 was an absolutely fantastic phone but the problems it suffered took the good out of it.

This on trusted reviews made my mind up for me:
"The camera in the HTC 10 is the best to ever grace an HTC phone. You (probably) won’t find anyone saying otherwise, but it’s still the weakest part of the phone. And that frustrates me."

When they release a phone and companies say it rivals anything out there, that's when I'll jump back on the HTC train.

The problem was that HTC allowed reviewers to have the device with unfinished software. Judging by the date of the trusted reviews review, he was using the phone before it had the first update which had a big improvement in the camera.

Overall, it get's a 9/10, and the only two negatives are non issues. The camera was improved significantly after release, and the pink tint on the screen is a result of the glue used, and it goes away.

Amazing you put so much faith in that review, anyway. Plenty of better ones out there.
