I recently read a newspaper article which said the following:

"At present, students from the UK and the EU are currently eligible for financial assistance from Student Finance England'

A relative in 2008-2009 trained in the UK in the Performing Arts. Would Student Finance England have financed her at that time? As I have never heard of this scheme I wonder if anyone could enlighten me please.

I probably chose the wrong time to post here, i.e. during the holidays, but does anyone know anything about 'Student Finance England' or have used it in the past?
