    Just posting for a bit of advice really. Over the last year I've managed to lose a bit of weight but I have plateau'd over the last few months. Without boring you with the details I've changed my diet and started doing a lot more exercise. I don't really have a programme, only what I've been doing in the gym meself and i'm wondering is it now time to get a trainer, or at the very least get a trainer to design a new programme for me to stick to (do Personal trainers do this?). Essentially I'm still carrying a bit of excess in the middle and id like to get rid of some of this (six packs are not really an option but i'm down to medium sized clothes from XL and id like to keep it this way). Ive also been told by a number of people to start taking protein, be it through shakes or otherwise but I'm wary of adding something to my diet that I'm not 100% sure about.


    TLDR - Stick to what I'm doing (which I know works for me) or change things up in the hope of better results.

    Diet:
    You don't need to take protein if you're getting enough from your diet. It's just a powder which gives you lots of protein for not-too-many calories and digests quickly so is convenient for after a workout. What do you normally eat in a day and when?
    You possibly need to cut back on the calories but it's hard to know. Creating a calorie deficit is normally enough to lose weight and if you've plateaued then maybe it's time to check these out again.

    Exercise:
    There are plenty of plans on bodybuilding.com and the likes which would give you a variety of programmes to choose from. I'm sure PTs will give you a programme, and show you how to do certain exercises so it's worth the money if you have it. Can be nice to have some instruction, focus and structure too instead of doing the same thing in the gym all the time or not quite knowing what you're doing. What do you normally do in the gym?

    General:
    No amazing programme will get you results if your diet is poor. Well done on your weight loss so far and your achievable goals, they will stand to you, you sound like you're in a great place! I'm sure your diet isn't poor, that's just general advice. Changing things up will usually bring results, you need to keep your body guessing with different exercises for different muscles, and tightening up the diet will usually result in happy changes after a few weeks too! Well done so far :)
