Has anyone tried to get on the FAS jobs website in the last couple of days? It is giving me a 404 error:http://jobseeker.fas.ie/
Have they changed the url?I emailed them about it but didn't get a reply.

This is the replacement URL as Fás has been replaced by Solas.

Ridiculous, and typical public sector. Why isn't the current site still running? Haven't they got more than one server?

It says it will be up today. I won't hold my breath. Those websites are terrible. Practically unusable.

From Monday, 18 July, a new look JobsIreland website will be available at www.jobsireland.ie
    As it says on https://jobbank.fas.ie/
which is down and will not let you browse the listings.

    Well, let's see - www.jobsireland.ie:
www.jobsireland.ie is currently unavailable to facilitate an upgrade to the service.

The service will resume on Friday, 22nd July.

It is Friday and still not up and ready.
    On Tuesday it said Wednesday,
On Wednesday they put Thursday instead,
    It's Friday...

I think that is the new url because I went for an interview with the company that got the contract for the jobsireland website (I didn't get the job btw).
Jobsireland is replacing the fas jobseeker site I think.
Ridiculous that the fas jobseeker site is down for so long with no redirect to a working alternative or at least have a message onscreen saying "Under maintenance" or something. I would say hundreds if not thousands of people go on that site everyday.

Only hope they got it right this time:
The Department of Social Protection apologises for any inconvenience caused by the disruption in the JobsIreland service. We anticipate that service will resume from Thursday 28th July.

Do you think they just said, "F*ck it, tell 'em it'll be another week. I don't know when its coming back"

Maybe they think everybody has a job now

They definitely used the word "anticipate" :)

And then, there's Bank Holiday coming... I'd be pleasantly surprised if the site is up and running by Thursday.

http://jobseeker.fas.ie/ gives "not found". It's only https://jobbank.fas.ie/ that gives the info message.

hopefully they'll be getting rid of the jobsbridge roles on there

They say it's still not fully operational but looks like a big improvement. You have to register with your details. This will most likely be made mandatory if you are receiving a DSP payment.

The Job categories are stupid. The ones on the old FAS site were much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 788 ✭✭✭pillphil

I'd guess they are just sample categories for testing.

This thing is a heap of s###!I spent the last hour creating a profile, filling in my work experience then when I hit "save draft" it logged me out and didn't save my changes.:mad::mad:
Edit:I finally completed my profile but there are a huge amount of glitches in this site (far too many to go into). It logged me out when I went back to my dashboard and now I can't log in again. I don't know if it has lost what I have saved (again).

    Anyone having issues registering?
I have tried both on Google chrome and Internet explorer, I recieve an email with a verification code and then enter it into there site, then I get a red error message saying that I must complete all fields, but there are no more fields to complete....

I was able to register OK but as I said when I was filling out my work experience I chose "save draft" so I could come back to it later but it lost it all.

I got on the new version and registered.
not there now, but it was obviously up for testing. Loads of jobs that were obviously just test posts which was annoying but I am registered.
I await being told to register or risk losing payment etc and then telling them I've registered and being told I haven't registered.

It was a long time coming in fairness.

Seems incredible that a contract for the re-design of a government job website could be given to a company that is obviously not up to the job.

We'll they are known to be IT illiterate and extremely wasteful, at least they are living up to their reputation.

Digital Economy My ARSE!!! They cant even get a national jobs website. They threw out a perfectly good website that had been working fine for years and years. Thats bloody progress for ya!

    Jobs are now here:

    jobsireland.ie

    Training courses are now here:
    fetchcourses.ie

Fas no longer exists, it's functions have been farmed out to a variety of different organisations (Solas, INTREO and ETBs), who have not their act together so far. The whole thing is an incoherent mess.

Yeah that's what I couldn't believe. If you didn't know there was a new site replacing the old one you would just think the existing one was down.

Also just tried new site ,put in location and only came up with 26 jobs ?
on old site used to be 5/6 page of jobs (Granted not all jobs, internship rubbish etc..) im i doing this right or is there more settings ?
unless employers cant find the new site as well !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭Tonto67

I've been trying to use this new website for days. finally got registered and its taking about 30 seconds to complete each search wit the results numbering in the 20s instead of the hundreds that i used to get on FAS. WTF is going on.

I guess it was build by a jobbridge intern qualified as a bike mechanic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,515 ✭✭✭Firefox11

Managed to get my profile finally onto the website but it is very slow. They really need to get the bugs ironed out before it went live.

It seems very rushed just to get something out to replace the old sites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,114 ✭✭✭lukin

They have put up this message on the splash screen (it appears before you log in):

"Bear With Us While We Upgrade Your Service.
We are rebuilding the JobsIreland Website - The new site will be fully operational from September 2016. Until then some features may not always be available. If you are an employer you can still register, post jobs and receive applications...
If you are a jobseeker you can still search and apply for jobs..."

One really annoying thing is that there isn't an option to save your password after you log in. This is actually really easy to implement as any web dev will tell you.
