For the day that's in it!

I love the good old simple iceberger. Lovely HB vanilla ice cream in a cocoa biscuit sandwich

    Mmmm

I just had a fruit pastille lolly, cooled me down for about 5 seconds.

But normally my favourite are feasts or I quite like a munchy bar ice cream too.

I'm gonna go in past tense because all of my favourite ice-creams taste like plastic now. Freaky Foot, Calippo, Fat Frog, Wibbly Wobbly Wonder were ones I always chowed down on.

I remember when Feasts where actually a proper ice cream that lived up to it's name and not whatever deformed miniature shíte it's been turned into. Loop The Loops also taste absolutely rank now, like they're in a constant state of being gone off.

The caramel Cornetto types from Aldi are fecking gorgeous, though I somehow managed to cut my tongue on one :pac:

    Orange Calippo-only job when hungover.

My favourite ice creams as a kid were

    Freaky Foot
    Wibbly Wobbly Wonder
    Twister (only one still available)
    Sparkler an Iced pop
    Brunch

Oh the days when 50P or £1 was sure to get you untold treats.

CoCo Bo on O'Connell Street has some unreal ice cream and toppings , their Baileys and caramel with hot chocolate sauce and mini fudge pieces is unbelievable.

Or the cola version, if you're in the mood for mixing it up a bit. I like to leave them out for about 20 minutes before launching into them. (A smaller, cheapo ice-creamier ice-pop can be eaten until the Calippo has fully matured.)

How has this even got to the second page without me??

My favourite is the traditional 99, flake, cone, raspberry sauce and sprinkles.
Next is the giant sundae from Eddie rockets.
There's a cafe where I live that does Eton mess Sundaes, and there's bits of broken up merengue through the ice cream.
I like piaschio icecream, baileys icecream, cheesecake icecream and plain vanilla icecream with mint aero in it and pineapple and melted kinder Bueno

I like magnum with white chocolate, magnum with caramel in between double chocolate, I like cornettos. I like Ben and Jerrys apple pie, cookie dough, phish food and caramel chew chew.

I like the romantica icecream cake on Sunday's if I have dinner early.

The local chinese does an elephant shaped icecream on their dessert menu that I always order (strawberry flavour inside)

I'm also a big fan of frozen yogurt and sweets so sweet they're sour on top.

I definitely prefer Ice Cream parlour type ice cream rather than pre packacged stuff.

Gelatairia on Bray seafront is a really good Italian ice cream place.

I also like Ben & Jerry's. Cherry Garcia!

Hägen Dasz pralines and cream or strawberry. Rather expensive but I don't have it that often.

The wibbly wobbly wonder was king, but it seems to have been killed off? Twister (formerly known as tangle twister) and Loop the Loop are good but I do miss the WWW.

In tubs, I am again left distressed. The greatest ice cream I've ever had was Haagendazs Dulce de Leche. It seems to have been culled and replaced by the Salted Caramel, which is pretty similar but just not as nice.

In the absence of that, I can make do with Ben & Jerrys Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

The mutherfcuking Golly Bar. Fcuking gorgeous ice cream.

Oh wait, they don't make it any more. Ah, who cares. It's still my favourite.

Next favourite is the Brunch and thirdly the IceBerger.

They were definitely still around a year or two ago, but I haven't seen them this year. You should try out the Aldi version: Jiggly Pops (I think). They're more or less the same, except the jelly in the top part is a bit wibblier/jigglier than the real thing, but they taste just as good.

The Giant Bar replaced them but it's not quite the same. (And I only ever see them in a 6 pick in the local Spar.) A drawing of a KKK member on the packaging might have been nice... :pac:

Maxi twist are absolutely disgusting, I wouldn't eat one if they were the last thing in the freezer!

Iceberger are great though. Or polar bars if you shop on aldi :)

Anyone remember Black Beauty ice pops? They were lovely.

    I'm not ice creamist.

    I love them all equally.

I had a tangle twister there after lunch. They have them in blackcurrant and strawberry now and they're only savage.

I've taken to making the occasional chocolate sundae at home. Hagen Dazs Belgian choc, and Hagen Dazs vanilla, with warm Belgian chocolate sauce and fresh cream. Unreal.

Not really an ice-cream, but was in supermarket getting a few beers recently and had my son with me. The cashier gave him a box of Mr. Freeze. Hadn't had one in over 30 years, still great

As I said in my post earlier, Giant Bars are definitely still available in a multi-pack, 6 for €2.50 or €3. I've only seen them in two Spar shops, but they are still around. Nothing amazing, though. A white cuboid of vanilla ice-cream on a stick.

Ah the days of the outdoor festivals and feis ceoils in places like Robertstown where someone would pull up in a HP lorry and start pulling boxes of choc ices brunches and ice pops for the kids out of the many insulated compartment doors.

anyone for the last of the choc ices? 30pence each or 4 for a pound!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭The Raptor

Went looking for a wibbly wobbly wonder today. Couldn't find one.

    Have they stopped making these?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

I miss haagen dazs chocolate vanilla fudge. :(

Oreo ce cream sandwiches over here, tangle twisters or magnum (esp white, or the caramel double layer one).

Anyons remember the ice creams in the mid 90s (arch do eh same time as those stupid NRG drinks I think, "be scene, not herd" ) that were shaped like a taco? Loved those things!

And by the way, anyone who hammers on about "double chocolate with chocolate sauce and chocolate chips and chocolate etc" should be brought out back and shot. I like chocolate. But I also like bacon. I wouldn't have a sandwich made of pulled pork cooked in bacon fat, topped with rashers and sausages and served in between two pork chops, with pork flavoured sauce poured over it. Because I'm not some Fecking weirdo pervert who needs to taste the same thing in 5 different textures!

Right now in the summer it's a Solero, can't be beat, only 90 calories too!

He will go down in memory of one of the soundest fellers ever lived !!!!!!!
