Well Sky themselves are only responsible for a very small number of channels that are available, so fair enough if you're complaining about them. But they can hardly be held responsible for the output of the hundreds of other channels they carry.

And therein lies the reason why their other programming has gone to hell.

But hey...at least they are not producing high quality TV like The Toughest Villages in Britain, Toughest Pubs in Britain and the Toughest Seaside Resorts in Britain any more,

Got rid of it 4 months ago. Free to air has 90% of the stuff I watched anyway. Can get everything else I want to see on the net. Saving a fortune.

    Overhyped shíte.

Id imagine that their income from subscriptions is high because most of it goes toward securing the Premier League rights, hence that's why their subscription prices is high.

I actually done a brief study on sky for a college project some few years ago and i found that they were curbing the recession. Income levels were reducing but subscriptions on average were growing year on year.

You'd be mad to pay full whack for any Sky package. If you must keep it (and assuming you're out of contract), ring 'em up and say you're cancelling. They'll either half the price there and then or you will have to do without it for a couple of weeks, after which they'll ring you back and offer you half price.

Half price for a few months, not forever

I've got movies, sport, kids channels, music channels for 44 or 46 euro a month. Was supposed to be on a contract for 12 months with that offer but I said I wouldn't go back on contract so, the offer is on my account til December but I'm out of contract

If push came to shove though, I doubt they are going to just let you cancel your contract without a fight. If you keep cancelling, they are not just going to relent each time.

I'm watching Fatal Attraction on Sky Thriller HD.

The last time I watched it I was around 13/14 years old.

There is a specialist bluray torrent site that gives 60gb downloads of movies in true hd or dts master audio 7.1 . Lossless audio. Bitstream is where it is at.

I've got better sound than most cinemas.:)

Got rid of UPC and Netflix about 6 months ago. Don't watch gay of thrones either so have literally nothing to talk to people in work about. It's great.

Funnily enough they found four billion quid stuck down the back of the sofa to pay for English football rights.

Well that's what Sky basically is. An endless sea of football, football and even more fcuking football and the rest is reality TV.
So people pay Sky silly money to let them rot their brain, watching 22 men chase an inflated pig's bladder round a field.
    Turn the idiot box off!
I have Freesat and barely watch that.

    This is me watching football:

The Sky Box sets / on demand / catch up services are very handy tbh.

I only got Sky because they where the cheapest package for HD TV & Broadband, hardly ever watch live TV but I guess it's nice to have the option?

Sky's offerings are not HD, only "HD Ready"

Try them on a real HD box, or even Saorview for a comparison - you'll be astonished.

Half price for a few months, not forever

Well possibly a few years? I have read about people cancelling annually and then eventually being re-signed up on their original discount deal.
I've pumped a full monthly sub into Sky for over 10 years and I won't be doing it anymore. If they want to keep me giving them some cash instead of no cash from here on in, grand. If not, it's onto free alternatives for me.
Tbh, I'm only keeping it on at all because I could'nt live without the recording ability and the last time I looked into it, I didn't see as handy an option elsewhere.

I was watching Sky ScFi/HorHD and I got a real horror...

I was watching Annabelle for the first time yesterday and it was getting to a scary part, I was watching it with no lights on, near midnight and then I felt this thing hit my neck.
I nearly jumped out of my skin. Couldn't see what hit me. Turned on the light on my phone and saw a bat on the floor. I guess it would have been worse if I had been watching a vampire movie.
I do like a good fright now and again...

Completely forgot I had the father's login for SkyGo, 2 whole years I went not watching TV channels not realising I had access to the Sky channels.

Logged in 2 weeks ago only to see that it's literally the same shít on the same channels from when I last watched Sky about 6 or 7 years ago. It's like it's stuck in the same programming loop from the mid-2000s.

I have Sky for free and it's too shít to even bother with, only thing we did watch on it was Speed on FilmFour because you can't turn down a cheesy action movie :pac:
