Caffeine Alternatives

While I love coffee and it's taste, I am very sensitive to caffeine. I get a real sense of impending doom if I have too much, fast heart beat, irritability etc.

Just wondering if there is any alternatives to caffeine to give me that little boost in the mornings at work?

Not trying to be smart but is the problem not just with having too much rather than with caffeine itself.

The problem is not having enough...

Just keep drinking it (maybe in smaller doses) and eventually your tolerance will build up.

I don' drink much of it at all due to not being able for it.

I have half a cup at around 10.30 am every day, except weekends where I have none at all.

Is there any alternatives to give me that little boost?

I tend to make half-caf coffee as I want the boost but have low blood pressure which too much caffeine (Like one cup) sends through the floor. I use an aero-press and spoon in part normal coffee, part Lavazzo decaf. The amount of each that I use depends on how I'm feeling that day in terms of tiredness and blood pressure. Then I leave it a minute to brew before pressing as I feel the decaf needs it to taste the same.

I'm not being smart be the caffeine free alternative is decaff.
The boost you refer to is the caffine itself. It sounds like its that boost hat you struggle with.

Try macha tea maybe? Has half the caffeine of coffee.

I have thyroid problems and low blood pressure (not suggesting you have either of these) and have cut back on caffeine recently due to similar reactions. I love coffee so went cold turkey for 10 days, it was harder than quitting cigarettes! I used to have about 2 a day, way more when I was younger. Now I have 2 a week and I so appreciate them. I have replaced with herbal teas (there are loads of nice ones on the market now), matcha tea sometimes or I just get hot water and lemon in cafes if I fancy a second drink.

I have found that drinking up to a litre of water, not too long after waking up ( to clean out the system) can give me just as big and a more prolonged boost than coffee ever could

    That's not a bad idea!

I also have to lay off eating cereal in the mornings too. The milk makes me sluggish.
