Buying a car in NI.

    I am currently looking to buy a car and I want to trade my current car as part of the payment. I am thinking about buying from up North due to the value of the sterling.
    Just wondering if dealers in NI accept ROI reg cars, or is there much hassle in trading an Irish reg car up North.

    A fair amount of dealers in the North have contacts with dealers down here so may take a southern reg car as a trade-in depending on the car, they will just resell it back to one of their dealer contacts down south. One thing though, is that you will get its trade value in North which could be lower than that down here. If the object is to save money then you really are better off selling it yourself down here.

    Much better off selling it down here, you will be in a far better position with the cash here going up with it than the car. Also make sure you do the process correctly in dealer gives you V5 and they send export section of it to DVLA, you don't want the car registered in your name in the UK or you will have weeks of delays in VRT down here.
