Glutamine queries

I currently use myprotein impact whey which has 18.1g of glutamic acid per 100g of powder, but with no glutamine. From what I gather, glutamic acid is a precursor to glutamine.

What are the implications of this for the quality/effectiveness of this product? Is it worthwhile for me to supplement this product with glutamine?

If yes - what are the guidelines for recommended dosage? Yesterday I came across 1000mg capsules to be taken twice per day but the same brand's powder says to take a 5000mg scoop once or twice per day.

Background info: I'm training fairly intensively for an olympic distance triathlon.

If anybody could please shed some light on this for me I'd be very grateful.
