What's next for a "reboot"?

I am fed up with the rebooting craze. Batman. Star Trek. Batman. Bond. Star Trek. And it's an annoying name: that used to be called turning it off and on again. But it's the way to go today so what do you think would benefit from a reboot? And suggest how the new would be betterer than the original. Personally I want a reboot of Mr Ed the talking horse. Cgi would do wonders and Mr Ed could do the commentary on Brexit.

Wouldn't mind a reboot of Back To The Future, but set in the future future, not the past future.

Some reboots can be good and others bad. Its a mixed bag. I wouldn't say all reboots are bad. There have been appalling reboots made and for this reason it's not surprising reboots have such a bad reputation.

Isn't a sequel to The Goonies, with (some of) the original cast, planned?

I was reading about it here a couple of years ago:

It doesn't seem as likely now as it did then, unfortunately.:(

Star Trek has to be the worst reboot, such retarded movies.

    Far from the worst.

I give you: Total Recall with Colin Farrell or Tim Burtons Planet of the Apes.

I think the western The Magnificent Seven is being remade this year?

Any 1970s/1980s TV action series is fair game now it seems. Some were remade already (Miami Vice, The A Team, The Sweeney, Minder, The Equalizer) with mixed results but that does not stop them being remade again. Others that are possible:

    The Fall Guy
    Macgyver
    TJ Hooker
    Hill St Blues
    Magnum PI

A cinema rebooted version of Dallas could be something that could happen as well. Of course, any super heroes can be rebooted over and over.

Some reboots proved to be a success (Batman, Bond) and others not so much.

    Game of Thrones.

the producers have been looking around Donegal lately, as a possible location for filming.

There is a re-hash of "CHIPS" being done at the minute.... if anyone is old enough to remember.

I think spiderman has been rebooted at least twice.
i,d say voltron, battle of the planets, akira
    would make good films,
with the special effects we have now .
EG similar to transformers ,eg not animated .
battle of the planets is kind of a superhero ,sf action film ,
so popular at the moment .
maybe a new blade would be good.
theres a tarzan film out every 10 years .

Ben Hur is out later this year , I'm going out on a limb here but I suspect it won't get 11 Oscars or be as well regarded as the 1925 version either.

    Other stuff I'll be avoiding

    Ghostbusters

    Pete's Dragon

    Point Break, Baywatch, Jumanji

I think what we need right now is a bit of "Carry On..."

Everything is getting too dark, moody or serious.

    Some silly fun please.

...not Adam Sandler or that Mall Cop crap.

Don't forget Battle Beyond the Stars , it even had Robert Vaughn.

And the latest Star Wars was a reboot of A New Hope which was a copy of Hidden Fortress/Dune/Dambusters

Star Wars has little in common with the Dambusters. I've seen that movie and I see very little similarities.

Obviously not the whole film. But the trench run is very similar to the raid on the dams. The whole keeping steady despite the flak, aircraft crashing and exploding at the side.

And the very destructive large round secret weapon :pac:

Battle of Britain might have been a better choice for the aerial scenes.

I'd love to see ALF rebooted.

Imagine having an alien wandering about your house in their bare feet? That used to freak me out as a kid.

    Macgyver

    In the works.

Tend to hate most of the reboots. Point Break being possibly the worst of the lot. There are a few that look interesting though.

Death Wish is being remade with Bruce Willis.

Kickboxer and The Magnificent Seven reboots both out this year.

They should reboot 'The Time Tunnel' from 1966, with all the great CGI now I'm sure they can pull it off with good stories. Yes it is before my time :)

The likes of Blade Runner, The Goonies, The Lost Boys, Stand by Me...had better watch out. Surely there'll be mediocre/utter garbage all-about-the-money-and-we-don't-want-to-take-a-chance-with-new-ideas remakes of those over the next few years.

Be careful of what you wish for.....there is already one being planned:rolleyes:....as well as(hopefully not) Big trouble in Little China. As for the Time Tunnel....they filmed a pilot back in 2006, which I don't think went anywhere.
West World is also being rebooted as a series by HBO, and is due out in a couple of months. It should be interesting to see how that does.
