This blasts all the naysayers arguments out of the water. It is real and has to be stopped.

You are joking aren't you? A left wing "think tank" puts forward an article of social issues, that is your trump card?

Recognised by the state broadcaster, being investigated by revenue and commented on by the minister of finance. You are really reaching now, this issue has been on the agenda of a number of state bodies and ngo's for quite awhile.

Op no one here is saying this isn't real, what people are saying is that when u apply for a job it is your responsibility to ensure that the terms and conditions are that of a paye worker.
This applies whether you get the job through paddy who drinks in your local and tells you to start in the morning, or a formal shirt and tie type interview.

What part of this can you not understand?

I understand that completely now, this thread is not about that, it is about organising the workers in an attempt to stamp out the bogus self-employed status so the workers in the industry can have the same rights as other workers. What part of this can you not understand?

Now the water charges are suspended, I suppose the water protest crowd had to do something
Unite is at the forefront of Ireland’s Right2Water campaign, which has mobilised hundreds of thousands of people in the Republic against yet another austerity tax: water charges.

It must be awful for you when people win in the fight for their rights.
