I was perusing my husband's extended family tree and remembered a chap with a very unusual name. When I googled him I found his military record on the link below. The information is also on Findmypast, but what is not on Findmypast is his photograph which I got on this link. Just adding this here in case anyone else might find a nice surprise of a photo. My man joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1916, fought in France in 1917, invalided home with shell shock, was returned to the front God love him, like so many others, and died in action from wounds. Findmypast just says he died of wounds. Thank you Mr. Google!

Edit: And on further research the following link gave me photos of my soldier and his whole family.

This is my paternal grandmother's brother. I see there is the ability to upload records. I must do that. I have his full service record, as well as his other life details and records.

Thanks for these links, they're tremendous.

I don't know the person who uploaded the information but thankfully he gave a lot of detail by naming the whole family in a photo. My hubby is delighted I found it. I intend subscribing to the livesofthefirstworldwar site to contact him and hopefully we might exchange more information. This is brilliant as my own tree has become very quiet so I am depending on my in-laws for something interesting! :)

Oh wow, thanks for linking to this resource. I love when a website appears which has the ability to bring all of the data together, in the hopes that another ancestor I don't yet know may have further info to supply.

My great grandfather's three younger brothers fought in WWI with two of them getting killed, and I have photos, medals and other documents so will have to upload all of this data.
