I desperately need to lose weight and I'm wondering what the best way to do Slimming World is please?

I'd love some opinions. (and some onions!!!)

I think you need to go to group at least for a while to get your head around the plan. A lot of people struggle with aspects of it and also worry at the seemingly endless amount of food you can eat. It is a little different to plans such as Unislim and WW.
Group is also quite different to US or WW - and I would say not for the better! The whole thing goes on way way longer and I know I struggled with that at the start. On your first night you should allow nearly 2 hours. There is a new members talk which starts at the start of the time of the class, then you join everyone else for group and then you're weighed after that. After that week you can judge your arrival time a little better, but you should still be allowing hour and quarter to hour and half.
I think you get a lot from the group in the early weeks.
Some people continue to get lots from the group - I have to say I'm not one of them and feel like bashing heads in a lot of the times I stay! There is another thread open on that!!

Online wouldn't be for me as I'd cheat on myself and skip weeks and weigh in on different days etc depending on what I'd on.

It is a very good plan. Once you get your head around the As and Bs and syns, it's very straight-forward. It involves a lot of cooking from scratch but I definitely feel far better when I'm on the plan - aside from weight loss I just feel generally better.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm joining group tonight and I actually can't wait! I'm only 5 foot and over 15 stone I am ashamed to say and I can't do my daily activities anymore i.e. cleaning my house, playing with my daughter and I am so tired all of the time. Here's hoping it will work for me this time!

I went last week for the first time. I was sent off to a corner to sit by myself for 45 minutes before anyone came near me. I then got told a bit of incorrect information e.g. she was talking about sugar free cordial, I asked where you get it and she told me any that says no added sugar is sugar free?!?!. Sat through the 'group' someone asked about SP and was told all free foods are allowed on it.

Went home and read the books to discover the low carb, low fat paleo diet I've been on since the beginning of April is SP except I have nuts. Won't be back, waste of my time.

Sorry to hear that, normally the consultant goes through the plan with the new members before class starts. I am guessing the consultant meant no added sugar is syn free.

Dont do the online groups- you'd be better off getting weighted in person- its the best part!

Hi, I'm a newbie poster here on boards! I'm doing the Slimming World plan here in Dublin and wondered if there was an up to date thread here for Slimming World? Would love to hear from anyone who is doing the plan too.
