Probably the wrong area to post this. Got an email from BT (formerly Dabs4work) You just have to watch a webinar this Wednesday. Note link in my email doesn't work so you'll have to Google it.

How much is this free resort weekend?
    And when is this weekend?
Uh-huh. And how much does it cost?
I see. And when is it?
And what are you charging for this free weekend?

This ran before three years ago. Got the hardware & license but unfortunately never got to use it. License has just expired.

No hard sell, no huge amounts of consequential spam; just an occasional email.

Got a similar email, when I clicked through the links it looked like a trial of the device

No it's definitely free, I have previously gotten one of the APs.

Thanks, missed out on this last time.

It IS a trial. Last time was a three year trial.

Free AP. Three year license to trial the software, which IIRC from the webinar was very useful.

Do i have to provide a work email address or would a gmail address and home shipping address work?

How are folks getting around the company information and IT professional thing?

We are not. If you are buying this "because it's free" then don't bother.

That's not what I meant at all.
I am not an IT professional, but I do work at home with networking and NAS hardware, amongst other things, therefore I found it to be of interest.
I was asking because I am not in a professional position accordingly but would find it of benefit.

IIRC from last time you needed a corporate (work) email address

Watched the webinar yesterday, sent my details, got confirmation from Meraki/Cisco that i should have the AP in a day or 2.

Confirmed with the rep this is the device being sent:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meraki-Dual-Band-Cloud-Managed-Wireless-Network/dp/B00KK93Q5C

Not bad for an hour webinar.

Didn't ask but provided one anyways as it's part of the T&Cs

I'm trying to get my head around this - but the video from the previous thread helps a bit:

So.. help me out here guys ...

I have eircom fibre with one of their F2000 modems. It does the job except the firewall blocks things like DirectAccess which I want to use on my home domain.

Could I get one of these and disable the connection management part of the F2000 (but it in bridge mode) and let this do all that successfully?

Not really, its an AP (access point) not a full router.

Received the device today, very impressed with it.

Was testing it over the weekend, very impressed with the range, picking up other SSIDs from over 300ft away.

Was picking up passing bus coaches SSIDs and the road is 300ft away.

Booked on a Webinar tomorrow morning. I've sold some of the Meraki kit in work but happy to take a freebie for home.. Might learn a few new things on the Webinar too!

I am interested in acquiring a few for a project.

I got one of these about 3 years ago with a license, never used it. Does the license expire even if you never used it?

No, if you never activated it.

Can someone help me? Main router at home is up stairs. If I set this up in an area in the house where Wifi is very poor would this improve my coverage?

I work at home and Wifi is very poor in certain areas. Also, I booked a webinar for tomorrow. At what point do you receive the AP?

No, it needs to be physically wired onto the main router, it cannot join an existing WLAN network.

For anyone interested, the Meraki gear is still available. For most of the seminars, the MR18 access point is the standard piece of equipment offered for viewing, but the MS220-8P network switch, and MX64 security appliance are also available for attending certain seminars.

For the MS220-8P, you need to view the "Introducing the Next Generation in Ethernet" webinar. The next two times it's being run are 18/01 at 4pm, and 01/02 at 4pm.

For the MX64, you need to view the "Cloud Managed Security Appliances (APJ)" webinar. The next two times it's being run are 18/01 at 1am, and 21/02 at 5am.
