Work in or with IT in Ireland ? or own a small business and want a solution for guest wifi?

You can get a free Wireless Access point by signing up and taking part in a 1 hour live webinar details on the thread I started here:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057014245

The access point is suitable for home use and has some cool features that let you monitor stats on your wireless traffic.

They do call you to qualify your interest before the webinar which should be fine if you're in IT.

afaik you need a work email address and cannot sign up with a gmail address, i may be wrong though.

European countries require a valid VAT ID for shipment

Didn't look for a VAT number from me. Maybe they request it after you've done the webinar and before you get your product

Yeah maybe because its says " .... for shipment."

One per organisation and needs valid VAT number for shipping. Great offer for sys admins I guess, which is what its aimed at.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

    Thanks OP,
I know them from couple of years ago, the company that I worked for set up trial public APs with Cloud Management in a Co. Dublin area.
I'll try and attend one of the intro webinars to see what's new.

You won't need a Physical Management Controller (fancy Access Point/ Wireless Router), it'll be in the cloud. You'll still need Access point(s) where you want the Wireless to work and Internet connection for it to work.
The difference between this and traditional office wireless is that with them you would only need access points around the place, no connection back to a local Controller.

Cheers for this OP, signed up for the webinar and the product seems pretty cool.

We have two simple wireless networks setup within one office which shouldn't be the case so looking for a solution in the long term, this could be just the ticket :)

No prob Guys. Glad people are getting benefit of this.

This video explains what the product is:

    Is it also free? :D

They ask for the VAT number after you do the webinar, I've had an email from someone asking a few questions about where I work.

Yes, it comes with a 3yr license, for free.

Hah! No far from it. The beauty of these is that you dont need a wireless controller to control multiple points though. So if you decide to put one in your office you may want to extend it.

3 year licence and it does stop working once that licence expires.

Same here, replied looking for confirmation that the AP would be sent and did they want my VAT number and got nothing back yet.

Good webinar, software looks pretty cool.

The email had a link for documentation and a recording of the webinar but it doesn't seem to contain any links from what I can see - anybody else have similar?

I've registered, clicked on the BYOD webinar and it says "This video is private". What am I doing wrong?

I did the webinar last November. In spite of numerous promises and several emails the promised WiFi router never arrived.
I did however receive lots of marketing emails..

my webinar seems to be 28th August
    Introduction to Cloud Managed Security

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,819 ✭✭✭howamidifferent

When I signed up for the webinar last week, I got a call from one of their sales people. I missed the call but heard the voice mail later. However, the sales rep emailed me after the missed call, so I replied back to that address this morning after the webinar to let them know I had attended. Got an immediate mail asking for VAT number and shipto addresss to which I replied. minutes later I got a confirmation mail advising me the AP was on its way. Twenty minutes later I got another call from sales asking me when we plan to add or upgrade our network infrastructure etc...Says they'll call me again next week to see how I get on with the AP...follow up re any possible sale etc... :D

i'm guessing you'll have to fulfil all of the requirements below to get one?
IT professionals receive a FREE Cisco Meraki access point with a 3-year cloud management license, a £699 value.
While Cisco Meraki webinars are open to all audiences, to be eligible for a free access point, participants must:

Attend the live webinar in its entirety
    Enter a valid company name
    Be an IT professional
Register with a shipping address in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland or Poland. We cannot ship free APs outside of these regions, and cannot ship to post office boxes.
European countries require a valid VAT ID for shipment
Register with their organization's email address
Confirm eligibility and shipping address with a Cisco Meraki representative by phone
If you are unable to accept your AP due to restrictions, (e.g., Erate), we will be happy to provide you with a trial AP, which can be returned following your evaluation of our solution
As APs are provided as an educational tool to those new to the Cisco Meraki platform, individuals and organizations who have received a free access point through other promotions are not eligible. Limit one free AP per organization and per individual. Due to abuse, we cannot provide free access points to individuals who register with yahoo, gmail, hotmail, and other similar email addresses.
