    Saturday: FP3 - 3pm, Qualy - 6pm

    Sunday Race - 7pm

Oh dear, picture problems at Setanta mean we've crashed out of practice.

    This too shall pass.

Ben Edwards mentioned during practise today that it is more likely in the morning and the race will start on a possible damp track. Damn it. :(

I was watching the 1995 race earlier where Alesi won and Barrichello and Irvine came second and third.

    Finished watching it earlier :)
thing that stood out was after Schumi had his issue and ended up in the pits for ages was how quickly he got back on the pace. Fastest lap after fastest lap, in his prime he was an absolute machine

Watched that too. The sound of those Ferraris. Rubens looked like he'd won the race. :p

Was watching a few minutes of FP2 replay earlier - is it just me or have they flattened the final chicane that leads into the wall of champions? The cars seem smoother and faster through it than previous years. Always remember it being much bumpier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Not sure, but am wondering will any of the presently racing champions have an encounter with 'the wall' this weekend. So there's Alonso, Hamilton and Raikonnen (I think I have this right) who have yet to make a visit to the wall with Vettel and Button both having a trip to the wall in their racing careers. Alonso was mega close yesterday in practice.

Watching P3 and Verstappen & Ricciardo have both done the exact same time :D

What a great session so far. Everyone pumping in qualy laps! Some epic powerslides out of the final chicane!.

That was a really odd accident for Magnussen. He was going at such a low speed but absolutely demolished the car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭Harika

Three teams covered by 0.6 seconds, should make interesting quali. and according to top speeds Renault seems to have catched up, Honda still trailing by 10 km/h

    Hope it's a wet race.

Could be great qualifying if weather is a bit mixed. Looks like they'll all be out early

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

If the track temperature is low for the race and it remains dry, it will be a disaster for Renault & Haas because they have no SuperSoft tyres. The aggressive choice could really backfire

The wall of champions takes another victim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Sainz, future champion :D hope he gets the Ferrari drive though.

Sainz a victim of the wall, didnt look like hard hit but plenty of damage done

Good man Di Resta, calling out some of Crofts bull**** in the commentary.

RedBull again with a Supersoft lap?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Gutted Checo is out, but great job from Alonso so far down on power. At least Perez will have his free tyre choice for the race assuming it's a dry start.

Can't believe they're in the 1:12's already. Will Rosberg come back at Hamilton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭Grim.

    very impressive lap from vettel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,262 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

The way Di Resta says Ricciardo annoys the hell out of me. Vettel and Ric both touched the wall and managed not to crash, takes skill :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That was a bit of an anti-climax, some lap from Vettel to get that close. Hope the race is more exciting than that

I like Di Resta, seems a decent skin...they need to drop Herbert & get Di Resta in there instead.

Just looking at the tyre info and am wondering will Hamilton and Rosberg be on a doubly-scrubbed set of ultras for the start of the race - see Q2 tyres below.

I know there were penalties to be added to this:

Croft was suggesting that Williams use an app which was developed with an advertising sponsor to determine whether there is going to be a red flag situation with respect to historical data and that they use this to base when they come out for qualifying. There happened to be a red flag and Williams were in the pits at the time.

Di Restas reply was (paraphrasing) "I know you like a good statistic but I do not believe that at all". But in the way it was said, I took it as "thats a load of rubbish".

Croft kept trying to get back at him a few times after that but Di Resta wasn't giving him any of it.

You can hear it a lot with Brundal; croft will say something dumb or totally tangential and Brundal will just change the subject. It is a pity Croft doesnt take that as a hint.

Red Bull must be counting on rain with what they have available. Magnussen has plenty of new ultra-softs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭Harika

Weather Forecast doesn't look like rain for the race, but also states it is dry while it rains oO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

I'm looking at the doppler radar for Montreal; the wet weather seems to be swirling to the north-east. It doesn't look it at the moment like it will be raining, but we'll have to wait until nearer race time...

I'd say there might be light shower at some point during the race. Mid or Near end of the race could be good

Checo saying the track is grand considering a bit of rain at turns 7 & 8.

    Vettel holy ****! Mercs!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

What a start by Seb! Failing rain, I can't see Rosberg coming back from that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,915 ✭✭✭GTE

Lewis seems like quite the ass at the start, again.

This seems like a force the rival into the middle of the pack where the Merc becomes a very average car.
    I may be wrong though.

    G'wan Vettel.

Incredible start from vettel. Dying to see replay of that incident with the mercs
