Processor underpowered vs the rest of the architecture?

Not that I've noticed then again I wouldn't be a "techie" and won't be overloading it googling and using office based products.

My old laptop died unexpectedly after 8 years solid use and I was thrilled to find this at such a good price. I'm sure it's not for everyone but for me it ticks all the boxes at a price I can just about afford :D

You got a great deal OP! Even if the processor is a little underpowered, for most it'll be fine. Great screen, great formfactor, SSD and aluminium construction for under 500? Can't argue with that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 147 ✭✭paddym1

Looks great value to me. Claregirl, could you please tell me which Curry's you got this in. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭jwcurtin

Fantastic laptop guys, got this for a similar price last year from the States and totally worth every cent of it. The screen is amazing, and of course the battery life will get me through a busy day in college with no issues.

Is it possible to reserve them for collection tomorrow?

I can't seem to find this machine on the PC World website for Waterford.

Claregirl or Curb Your Enthusiasm, is there a choice of colour?

    Looks like a great bargain!

Are these still available in the Limerick store?
Is the unit in question on display with the price in there or do you have to ask about them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,624 ✭✭✭double GG

Just got one from the Waterford store. They said they had 9 in stock after I bought mine. All are in white.

Thanks for all your updates so far.

Any idea of the levels in Navan and Dundalk? Are there any direct numbers for the stores to stop hassling you , all I see are the 1890 number and it's no use at the moment

Navan and Dundalk had at least 5 in each. No direct numbers.

Thanks for the info, do you mind me asking how you were able to check the stock levels or is a that a state secret? I'm dependent on a family member for a lift from Dublin and don't want to have to suffer the silence if there's none there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,489 ✭✭✭Curb Your Enthusiasm

    So people stop asking if their local store have them, here's my post again outlining which stores had NEW stock as of this afternoon;

Carlow, Dundalk, Waterford, Limerick, Tralee, Navan

Other stores may have a display model, or none at all..

Go to Limerick or Waterford if you want a guaranteed item. They had at least 12 in each of their stores. Others only 5 or less..

Thanks, going to Navan tomorrow morning, last question promise, is it PC World or Curries I've to go to?

Thought there was a superstore there? If not, try both.

PS: I don't work for DSG, I just do some external work in their stores so have access to their stock systems. Hope I helped some of you out.

Unfortunately not. Keyboard is really nice to type on though. Great key travel.

Thanks op picked one up in Waterford this evening. Now everyone in the house has a laptop including the dog!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,484 ✭✭✭Chain Smoker

I've the slightly upend version of this one. The processor isn't great on that model but everything else is pretty good (and there are some tradeoffs on the models with a processor (needs a fan, is a bit heavier), great for that price (w/e of the touchpad, infuriatingly clicky).

Screen is ridiculous, I get 5 hours with wifi and the screen at a reasonable level of lighting which seems great. Their ridiculous claim is 12 hours but I feel like you could drag 8 out of it.

I want one. It has about everything I want in a laptop. But at 469 I dont actually need it right now. Reluctantly pass.
    Thanks OP.
