But weirdly it also says price increases to 15 euro a month after 6 months . Looks to good to be true

I can't find a link to full conditions what price do they charge if you go over your free minutes? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭judgefoozle

I've given it a go - was planning on leaving Meteor anyway so will try this out first.

30 cent per minute. 99 cent a day for data up to 50mb then 2 cent per mb. Can't see price for text

Ordered myself. If it's kosher can you stop the contract after 30 days easy enough?

    Scary that!

Still a decent deal. You could choose a higher plan if you use more minutes or data etc. The phone is still free and cancel after 30 days. Not bad at all!

It looks too good to be true, but they know most people will stay on the bill as it's too much hassle to move networks if the monthly cost is low even with average service in places.

It's pretty crappy, but any kind of smart phone for that money is fine really and definitely still a bargain. Ideal for emergency/travelling/spare etc. imo.

Right, my Sony Xperia just gave up.

I need a new phone til its fixed. I can pop down the CW today and pick up one of these.

How can I make sure that I only pay for one month of this contract. i.e. How can I make sure I cancel straight away after getting the phone?

Can't you just confirm that in person when you go to CW? Best to ask them so you know for sure.

And then report back here :D

Tbf its a shíte phone, but I cant be choosy seeing as my xperia z decided to pack it in during an upgrade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 963 ✭✭✭4real

I wonder what would it cost to unlock this?

A bit yeah, drivers licence, utility bill, bank details, a few signatures. It took about 15 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,086 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Can someone try a different sim in the phone to see if it's locked or unlocked please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,086 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Sorry I have another request to ask anyone who has the phone :)

Can you see if it'll run like likes of Angry Birds and Crossy Road?

I'm waiting to buy the oneplus 3, so this came at a great time. I was using a 5 year old Nokia E71 in the interim, so this is a improvement. ðŸ‘

    Angry birds works anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,969 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

Currently collecting mine. Lad in shop hadn't seen the deal. Told him I'm cancelling immediately and keeping the phone. He's laughing saying it's a brilliant loophole!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,086 ✭✭✭biebiebie

    Available online also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,086 ✭✭✭biebiebie

    https://www.carphonewarehouse.ie/billpayterms

METEOR BILL PAY SIM ONLY AND FREE HUAWEI Y3

If customer decides to cancel connection within seven days of purchase, all items of the offer must be returned unused to Carphone Warehouse in original packaging and in working condition.

Hmm something's holding me back from clicking on that BUY button :(

Yeah you're right. I just tried to cancel and they told me to return the phone to the shop.. I can only cancel after 14 days.

So I will get stung for 2 months.

    24 euro.

TBH the phone is just about worth that, and I have no phone so its getting me out of a hole.

Maybe the OP can change the thread title to "HUAWEI Y3 for only €24" as it is a bit misleading as it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,969 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

I have the phone in my hand now and I'm cancelling everything when I get home...no where on my contract stated I have to give the phone back or stay 6 months....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭Stiro05

Sorry lads didn't see those t's+c's last night when I posted. I have changed the thread title. I still think its not bad for €24!:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,086 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Yes and to be fair for €24 you are not only getting the phone but also

    1GB of data
    Unlimited texts
    100 minutes

Per month at €12 a month to be paid for 2 months max.

Still a good bargain especially if you need a stop gap in between phones.

And then you also have a spare phone to throw in the man drawer when you're done :D

Shouldn't that post belong in the work&jobs forum? ;)

Joking aside, they didn't ask you for the phone back?

  • Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 11,248 Mod ✭✭✭✭MarkR

I didn't mention the phone. â˜ºï¸ Just that I'd signed up for 30 day sim lite, and only wanted a single month. She seemed a little puzzled, but no issue.

Staff are wrong about having to hand back the handset, that would only apply if a person cancelled the contract or ended it as part of the 14 day returns policy.

Once you use the handset and are on network for one billing period that handset is yours. You can ring meteor after getting the deal and tell them you "want to give 30 days notice" of ending the contract and they must do this as it is advertised as a sime only "30 day" contract. The handset belongs to you as it was sold as part of the contract.

Is it locked to meteor? I think I remember reading that some meteor phones are locked to the network of first sim you put in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭Stiro05

I received my phone and tested a Vodafone sim in it and it's locked I'm afraid! I'm having a little battle with meteor as they will not let me give 30 days notice . They keep telling me to go to carphonewarehouse because of the 14 day cooling off period

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 163 ✭✭Stiro05

Right just unlocked the phone. I used this crowd on eBay http://www.ebay.ie/itm/UNLOCK-CODE-Huawei-Ascend-Y220-Y360-Y320-Y321-Y360-Y511-Y520-Y560-Y600-Y625-G500-/262427360577?

Only cost €1 and unlock code was sent in less than 5 mins :)
