I'm having problems with my boat engine. It blows the main fuse when it tries to start. I suspect it's the starter motor. The starter motor matches that of a volkswagen transporter van. Is there any difference between marine and road starter. Same oem number

They are different marine starters have anti spark screens in them as fuel fumes can build up in the bilge, also if anything was to ever happen your insurance may not pay out if they see that it's not a marine starter.

    You could try marine parts
http://marineparts.ie/?subcats=Y&pcode_from_q=Y&pshort=Y&pfull=Y&pname=Y&pkeywords=Y&search_performed=Y&pshort=Y&pfull=Y&pname=Y&pkeywords=Y&pcode=Y&match=any&q=starter+motor&dispatch=products.search Might also be able to get it repaired by someone like these http://mylesbalfeltd.ie/

Took it out and bench tested it. Worked fine. Put it back in no more problems. Must have just jammed or something. It was popping fuses instantly
