    Hi,
Car due to be taxed soon and I can't come across car registration booklet where I normally leave it.

Where do you order a new one from? how much do they cost?
......and is there much of a time delay before it arrives from the relevant authority?

    Thanks for any replies.

You don't need the book to tax the car.

    Details on replacement docs here

Print off form from web, get signed in garda station, send to tax office with €12. Replacement comes from Shannon in about a week.

I couldn't find mine for NCT last year and had to get replacement.

Thanks...is it just the insurance details and pin no you need to do it online?...I know it takes a few days for the tax disc to come to you that way.

If doing it in tax office you get the new tax disc that day don't you?

I have moved address since the car was bought and registered to my name....if ordering a new Book should I write in my 'new' address for the new Book to be sent to?

    Thanks for any replies.

Your current address - i.e. where you want the book posted to.

    Does that actually work?

It opens up a whole can of worms if you can get an ownership doc sent to any address of your choosing once you know the correct name and address of the owner and just get a form stamped.

A few years ago, you couldn't do this, maybe it's changed now.

Put down your current address. You're going to have to get it signed in the garda station so just bring some ID && a household bill where you currently live. Explain that you've moved address. Not a big deal.

Go into motor tax office and do in there. Bring I. D and proof of address then explain to them you have moved and enter new address

Taxed the car today, followed tips from here and went to Garda Station first...I must look honest as the Guard didn't even look for proof of address from me(which I had)....Hopefully new log book will come in 3 to 5 working days.
