Nice find for some people, for cheap ad-free music during the summer :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 845 ✭✭✭omicron

Doesn't work if you've ever been on premium before. However they played an ad last night offering to come back to premium, 3 months for 9.99. I went to click on it but the ad was over before I got a chance and now I can't find anything about it on the website. Not only that but I've had Spotify on for the last 2 hours non stop and haven't heard that ad, or any other ad again! It's like they don't want my money!

If you log in and try to avail of the offer above, it will reject it and give you the offer you're talking about.
    Or follow this link

Can you have a premium account and use more than one device. Or do they charge for a second device

Unlimited devices, but not at the same time. Once one starts, the other cuts out.

I've never had spotify and it's telling me I cannot avail of the offer as well.

Fyi, Deezer have an offer of half price if you have purchased a Bose soundlink system. Deezer/Boser offer link.

You can enter the promo code that came with your soundlink... or alternatively the 17 digit serial number from the soundlink.

*top tip* ... if you aren't luckily enough to have purchased a soundlink system, there are plenty of unboxing videos on youtube. Some are great and show every aspect of the system... including model, serial number ;) *cough*

I only signed up to Spotify ten days ago and this offer worked fine for me. Maybe you guys previously availed of the "get Premium for 7 days free" offer or similar in the past. I'm glad now I didn't take up that offer last week! This is much better.

Worked for me but I had to setup a new account. Thanks OP.

Remember, you never have to pay a tenner a month for Spotify.

Just pick up a Vodafone PAYG SIM (if you're not already a Vodafone customer), put some credit on it and avail of the Spotify add-on for a fiver a month.

I tried that but you have to be able to confirm the number change so you must put credit on the sim you are using to leapfrog onto the vodafone sim.

(Thankfully we are all using avators as the scabbiness has reached a new low around here!).

If we were to cancel this immediately after paying the €0.99 will we still get the three months service? i.e. to ensure we don't forget to cancel in three months time and then going on the full rate

The last time this offer came up, I cancelled straight away after paying the 99c. I still received the 3 months service. It's similar to Netflix where the service ends when your pre-paid time expires.

Yep. I registered there yesterday for the three month offer under a new email address(fourth or fifth time I've registered with Spotify)and immediately cancelled. My subscription runs out in August.

Cheers guys and cheers OP, signed up now and cancelled again. Super BA for a summer of music. Will go great with the half price Chromecast Audios I picked up from here also!

I reckon that "Stingiest" thread over in AH will have links to this thread pretty soon at this rate 😄

So nobody who got a "it appears you have had a special offer from us before" message has figured a way to get this deal then? tried creating a new account, but I imagine its linked to your CC/PayPal.

Would have been handy, as my 3 month Tidal trial is nearly done!

Just get a new email address, or link it to your fb for a new account (and the 99cent deal) depending. Loving the transferring sim numbers too, 10 euro a month is prohibitively expensive in fairness

great shout - does this definitely work? I thought you has to be a vodafone "red" customer?

Can you simply register with any vodafone PAYG sim, then topup your account and add spotify via the vodafone website?

I think it's linked to your card. You need to use a different bank card to get the special offer again.

So, whats the story with spotify. If I sign up to premium for 3 months, I can download as much music as I want and when the 3 months are up the music will stay with me?

Are you insane? How would that be viable? When it expires you lose it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 990 ✭✭✭cefh17

You lose the premium and with that being able to play songs you've downloaded offline, being able to skip to specific songs in your playlist and you'll have ads. You'll still keep your playlists as far as I know. Really for 9.99 and not having to deal with torrents every month it's worth it IMO.

There was a time before though that I used to turn off internet access of Spotify(firewall) on my phone and even when my premium expired, the songs still stayed and so did all the premium features because the spotify app on my phone didn't know that the account's premium access was already expired.

I believe they have now updated the app so that the app knows that the premium expires at a certain date so it needs an authentication test prior to providing premium access again :)

Only way i can think of is to get your new account to "follow" your old account and copy the playlists that way.

No need to follow, just search your username and save each playlist.

    Yes.

But if it is not your main SIM, be sure to remember to keep it topped up and not let the Spotify subscription expire. If you have credit on the SIM the fiver will be deducted automatically each month and the subscription stays alive.

If you run out of credit, it will cancel automatically and you won't get any email warnings.

You can re-enable it, but it's a pain in the hole:

There seems to be a glitch on the Vodafone website and it won't let you do it over WiFi. It has to be done over 3G/4G.

I loaded a tenner onto the Sim card and by the time I had gone through the process to activate it again, I had managed to burn through 48c worth of data.

Now I have a (useless) €4.52 of credit on my 'Spotify' sim....

    Grrrr....

Best then when setting up the Spotify add-on to have signed up to one of the offers where you get 250MB of data when you top up by €20 and to then top up by €20.

If you have a family member or friend on Vodafone, get them to send you €2 IOU Buddy credit (the minimum allowed) or, even better, €6 credit to bring your balance just over a tenner.

(Both of you will need to enable IOU Buddy on your accounts on the Vodafone website).

Yes, but there's nearly always some apps running in the background that will start singing as soon as they detect a data connection....
