FPL Quarterly Rank Comparison

This is usually an interesting excersise which shows, if nothing else, that this is a marathon not a sprint. Several posters here have proved that even after shocking starts, or in my case a shocking first half, a strong finsh can push you into more than respectable ranks in the end.

Recalling from last year, its very rare for people to have any kind of consistency over the 4 quarters, there are usually huge variations between quarters.

Mine is:

Q1 - 263,000
Q2 - 1.72million :eek:

Q4 - 769

Final: 14,674

I'd say as you will see having 282k as your worst quarter is far, far from bad!

The chips made the big difference for me in Q4. This is the first year I really took it seriously, so have to be happy with 17k OR. Onwards and upwards next year I hope.

Well played, great Q1 when most were floundering.

I thought I did alright in q2 so I just didn't expect it to quite as low, where as q4 was a disaster and expected it to be much lower.

In Q1 I had Gomez before he got injured, Kompany when he scored in the first 2 games and Silva was doing quite well too, along with Gomis, Ayew and I brought in Mahrez very early too. The game was much easier in Q1 compared to Q4 which was much more challenging.

Contrary to what many of yiou said, I don't consider my Q2 (and most of yours) THAT bad. Don't forget there were 3,734,001 players this season!!! Also do consider that many players played their chips during that Q2!

Personally, considering I played 4 of my 5 chips during it and factoring all the dead teams, casuals who completely abandoned the game and casuals who got inevitably caught by the blanks & DGWs, I see my Q4 as a complete di-sas-ter. It sounds to me like a 3m rank!

Good point about Q2 rank. In Q1 and 2 your are playing against maybe 2.5 or 3m players.

By Q4 you are really only up against about 1m active players. Q3 and especially Q4 ranks should be much higher than Q1 and Q2 and from above most people's were.

Yeah in the first half of the season there's only about let's say 2.75m teams (let's meet halfway). I insist on this point though since, in this forum, we kinda see the 1m rank bar as a real indicator of crapiness. But if we're talking in terms of partial ranks, it's not as bad as it is seen in here.

Don't forget that when we "created" this forum, there were less or just above 2m players in GW1 and less than 2.5m in GW38 so the 1m rank did not have the same value at all then! Just as an indicator, half the total amount of team from my first season playing the game are added to the total amount now!!!

Interestingly if you divide the total 4 quarter figure by 4 it gives me an average Quarterly figure of477k as opposed to a final figure of 11313 so there must have been way more points on offer in the last 2 quarters.

It doesnt work like that for everybodys 4 quarters. You could apply the same to your weekly GW ranks I finished 4k but I think only once did I have a gw rank lower than 4k. Id imagine something like an average gw rank of 500k would probably see you finish top 10k. Actually I think that anewpla website works out your average gw rank.

The reason why your OR isn't in or around your average quarterly rank is becuase the points gained from a good quarter far outweigh the points lost from a bad quarter. Like if there are 3 million players, the difference in points between 500k to 1.5m is much greater than from 1.5m to 2.5m

You mean top 1k!!!!

2 seasons ago I finished 1.6k and my GW average was around 640k!!!
And last year where I eventually got into top 10k in GW37 (9.5k), I had an 832k average GW score. And it decreased to 835k in GW38 while my OR rose to 9.1k!

Hence why I'm fighting THAT hard the idea of a 1m GW rank being bad. It clearly isn't. I'd say such an average GW rank over the entire season probably means a top 20k OR...

Well obviously Quarter 2 was horrendous but was compounded by a poor start. Thankfully followed by a strong recovery and a sublime end.

TC (17) and BB (16) used in Quarter 4 gave me 33 extra (chip) points.

It made for an interesting season. One I thoroughly enjoyed and in no way blinkered by the second half of it :pac:
