Gym Shoes

Looking for a suitable pair of shoes for the gym, my problem is that the shoes I currently use have a big cushion under the heel so my feet are tilting downwards when I wear them.

Problem is when I am squatting all my weight is on the balls of my feet and I am powering my lift through them rather than the heels, if I angle my shoes upwards I can power off my heels.

Basically looking for a flat soled shoe? Or neutral type shoe? I am unsure as all the runners for sale seem to have a big heel.

I can't post a link but would a pair of MIZUNO BE 2 STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING TRAINING SHOES be suitable? I don't want the shoes for running, just the gym.

    Converse.

    Vans.

    Nike Metcons.

    Reebok Nanos.

Adidas adipower's are a good option for suqat specific.

Any sort of converse all stars type shoe would be fine. Doesnt have to be anything fancy, the penneys ones will be grand

have a look at the adidas adipure 360 or 360.2 crossfit trainer. flat sole, no cushion, comfortable and look good.

I have had a pair of Reebok Nano's for a while and like them. Nice wide toe section and flat sole. Think they might have been the Nano 2, but i cant imagine there's a huge amount of difference between the versions.

If I had those Mizunos. I'd be taking them off for squatting and deadlifting.

Flat soled shoes will cover you for pretty much everything. Something like Cons (or Penny's finest copies of them for a tenner).

If you want something for squatting with a solid sole and bit of heel lift there are the Adipowers, Power Perfects or even Powerlifts.

Might as well be barefoot. The BE was an S&C shoe for the feet not for wearing during S&C training.

Grand and flat, designed to force the toes to engage when moving. If you're doing a lot of squatting a firm shoe would be idea as it will give you a stable base.

I've always used Vans, probably a little bit more cushioning than converse but I find the latter pinch my feet too much.

Tk max are selling those freedom crossfire/chuck shoes.

Big sale on them for example a pair of size 8 is 13 euro, and their size 8 is close to a size 9 in normal Chuck's.

Not as solid as Chuck's but very comfortable and come with two sets of lacers!!!!

I bought a pair of more mile 2's. €50 landed from UK. Got them specifically for squat and deadlift. I've no complaints so far and have used them for about 7 weeks now
