    Is this Dual Sim.
I bought a g3 last year to replace the g2 and was very annoyed it hadnt got dual sim.
I will only buy a phone with a dual sim in it from now on so even though ive been waiting for the g4 i wont be buying it if it doesnt have dual sim

The second link on the OP has a picture of the internals, showing 2 sim slots. IIRC, they had a dual sim version in India for the G3. I find the dual sim feature is very handy.

Bit of a jump in screen size though.

Looks like they've added a very respectable camera.

Can I order the moto g4 from Tesco direct UK and have it delivered to Ireland?
Or where can I buy one of these in Ireland?

Moto g 4th gen listed in Argos online for €207, waiting on stock delivery

208 in argos will mean it will be pretty competitive in the phone stores. Is there any firm date for release yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,097 ✭✭✭stevek93

Any idea on the plus I heard it has 4GB of RAM :D

Assuming this is the lesser model with 2gb ram and no finger print sensor?

You know that the IE in boards.ie stands for Ireland yes?
The country has plenty of cities.

Im waiting for the 3gb with 32gb storage one.
I see some on amazon but the amazon page doesnt even give the specs. How can you buy anything with seeing which one you are buying

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorola-Moto-Plus-SIM-Free-Smartphone/dp/B01GZZK95O/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1466859423&sr=1-5&keywords=moto+g4+plus

There are others that arent from amazon on there though, but they are too expensive.

Noticed Argos have them in stock in a few stores only one per store.

There is an awful lot of bitching going on in the Lenovo forums at nasty 50+ degrees in some cases of these things overheating. I wonder can the temps be controlled with OTA's. SD 617 seems to be worse then the older 615 for heat issues. Do Lenovo not test these things to identify these problems before boxing millions of them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 864 ✭✭✭xlogo

50 degrees - that is some serious over heating.

Keep you warm in the winter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭StereoSound

Might be an idea to hold off buying one of these to see if Lenovo can pull something out of their hat to fix it. I doubt though an OTA can fix it unless they down clock the CPU or something drastic like that. I'm following this one closely to see what happens with it. I do like moto G's since I had the original one and it was great for it's day.

My other half bought the G4 in argos today in Naas, despite me telling her about the heating issue. I'm using it here now and I won't knock it, its not that bad, I read online again in the Lenovo forum that the over heating issues seem to be much more aggressive on the G4 plus variant. This one I'm using is the normal G4 with 2GB ram. It's actually a little flier here, no lag or anything. I'll report back though if the thing melts but so far it's pretty good.

I wont ever buy a phone again without dual sim. So handy.

€190 for the G4 on amazon.
I bought one for the wife the other day.
    Lovely phone and dual sim.
Dont know if the argos one is dual sim.

Im waiting for the g4 plus with 32gb myself.

No over heating issues for me I have it two weeks now. Great phone very fast and light would highly recommend.

Looks like the white g4 on amazon is dual sim but the black version is not.

    Thats weird.
    She has the black one.
And I put the second sim in it yesterday for her for holidays.
    So definitely dual sim.
Amazon isnt great with its descriptions these days.
They dont even say the memory on the black one.

Argos G4 is single sim. Dual Sim is handy but wouldn't be a deciding factor for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭StereoSound

My partner had an issue with the display on her G4 today, a massive amount of light bleed developed from top and bottom of the display, brought it back to argos and got another one, the second one had chips on the paint around by the charging port even though the box was sealed which is a factory balls up I guess. Brought that one back and got refund and had to travel to another argos for the third one. This one seems to be ok so far, sitting in Costa here playing around with it. I have noticed the display on this one is slightly warmer then the previous two G4's she had but seems to be pretty perfect. Lenovo must be using more then one source for their displays.

Got the G4 today. Dual Sim. Feels very plasticy and much cheaper than my old ascend G7. Screen is great though and it zips along grand!

Did you get the dual sim in black or white? My partner is raging she didn't buy the dual sim version on amazon, but only some seem to be getting a dual sim as advertised and some are not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭StereoSound

The G4 is now €179 in Argos.....

Hold onto your reins! Lol. Cheap phone at that price, I'd buy it! That's €20 cheaper then the Ultra 7 with Nexus style updates !

I have bought the g4 and I am very impressed so far.

Great battery, nice screen, radio and no lag.

Small note not advertised anywhere, The phone has the step sensor, nice add-on for me.

In white. It seemed like the black version is single sim. Not a fan of white phones generally, but needed the dual sim!

    I emailed amazon today

I have checked and see that only Motorola Moto G4 Smartphone with colour: White comes with Dual SIM and the Black Motorola Moto G4 Smartphone comes with Single SIM.

    Hi All,

I just wanted to mention that John Lewis are selling this for £160, with a 2 year guarantee. I think the two year JL guarantee is worth going for over other sellers as it's only about a tenner more than the cheapest it is elsewhere.

I'm going to wait for the black one to become available in dual sim before I purchase though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

Its still a shared slot SIM/Micro SD on the Gen 4

The site appears to state they wont ship this phone to Ireland for some reason. I never heard of this crowd to be honest. UK based?

I suppose you could try but haven't some retailers in the UK blocked parcel motel ? I know Moto maker UK possibly blocked it as my gf tried to use it for her new Moto G and they wouldn't ship to it or something to that effect. So she bought the Argos one instead.
