Well, they saved the music until the end. That's something, I guess.

Skimmed a few reviews, generally mixed.

Haven't read reviews yet but that's a fairly solid trailer.

Hmm, I'll watch a few more, but it sort of drifted between being alright and somewhat underwhelming. Think the character stuff is more interesting than the possession.

I enjoyed the pilot there is plenty of room for the show to grow.

Pretty solid so far and isn't as slow to get moving as I thought it might be. Geena Davis also looking well!

Yeah, happy enough with that second episode.

What!!?? She is not aging well at all! I couldn't believe it was her. She shoulda have stayed away from the surgeries. Each to their own I guess... :)

Spotted the 'He Is Coming' poster on the train. Moving along pretty well, I think, though still largely plot progression. I'm enjoying it and didn't want 1.03 to end. Not sure wielding her powers was all that necessary, but who cares? Thought the burning man was CGI, apparently not. Kudos.

I'm really enjoying this I have to say It might just be my favorite new show this season.

The train scene at the end of episode 3 was amazing.

Currently watching 'outcast' which is decent. Anyone who has seen both, which did you prefer?

Pretty underwhelmed by this so far.

There's just nothing in the script or direction that elevates it beyond the ordinary & I think the acting from Geena Davis (whose face now appears incapable of conveying human expression) & the chap who played Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day off is well suspect.

I actually don't know how they proceed from the train scene to be honest, found it kind of jarring myself.

That's why I found it amazing to be honest it was shocking and very jarring they didn't water it down for network tv how they follow it up over the next few episodes will say a lot about the show.

You would want The Exorcist to have a strong possession to fight against this one seems very creepy an dangerous.

The kissing scene was very creepy

This show has been extremely disappointing. All over the place. Plodding. Not scary, and full of daft ideas...and having a Lindsay Lohan lookalike as the possessed girl is a huge mistake

Ticking along nicely. Some fun quips, soundtrack ain't bad. Good that the nun was able to offer some experience, if a little bit of a short cut so that Father Marcus could feel confident again.

What did you think of the first instalment of the series horror fans? True to the original or way off the target?

Interesting show. Given that there were a number of bad exorcist movies and a heap of possession/exorcism themed movies I'm surprised how much I enjoy the plot of the TV series. It is not scary but it is hard to achieve this a tv series, but some of the scenes have been unsettling. Can't see it lasting more than one season.

Ah, the old ambulance imploding and piano soundtrack routine.

    That and the iconic image.

I would agree that this show will be a one season affair. Not enough storyline to take it any further.

So, Fr. Bennett is a forensic accountant and a security expert, eh? The scene where he was assaulted was slightly chaotic, visually.

    Still enjoying it.

I got to episode 6 and bowed out.

Ben Daniels performance excepted, it's been a piss-poor attempt at re-imagining the source material.

In agreement with you; it'd want to pick up the pace a bit soon. Too slow and considering the original material it's not a great offering so far.

    Mother decommissioning in 3, 2, 1...

Fr. Bennett can hardly go a week without something happening to him!

Make up team on full duty. Ben Daniels (Fr. Marcus) broke a rib during the confrontation scene. Slightly let down by the main exorcism itself, but with the foreshadowing they were holding back. We still have the Pope and Catholic elite conspiracy to come. Hopefully Fr. Tomas's moral dilemma stuff won't linger too much.

Why am I still watching this crap? Answers on a postcard...

I'm enjoying the show immensely. While far from perfect, it's definitely one of the best exorcism tv/film versions we have seen in a long time.

Word on the street though is it will be cancelled. Despite the good reviews it's not getting the viewership.

Hopefully then wrap it up before it's axed.

I give a series a "three episode benefit of the doubt", and I thought the third episode just clinched it enough to keep me watching.

This is as bad as anime when it comes to drip feeding a plot! :pac:

Geena Davis has been terrible throughout, although not her fault she can't show any emotion through the surgery.

Also... jesus, that f*ckin' guitar wailing in the latest episode. Completely put me off that scene, which in all fairness wasn't that important just to show (or confirm) that Marcus is gay.

Anyone know how many episodes this is going, because I feel it's already getting a bit stale. If there are only two left I may as well stick it out. I mean I watched all of Channel Zero!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,383 ✭✭✭✭Birneybau

Well, it that wasn't a bad soap opera episode.

Sort of low key episode - 1.09, even with the beatings and body count. Now, what can Fr. Tomas do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

An enjoyable series as a whole and well worth a watch for Ben Daniels alone.

More than likely won't be renewed but a nice start middle and end to the season.

Left open for a second season but no huge cliffhanger ending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,741 ✭✭✭✭Ally Dick

Didn't like the reference to suicide being a mortal sin, condemning the person to Hell. A bit harsh

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 18,664 CMod ✭✭✭✭The Black Oil

Happy with that finale. Cast seemed genuinely into the show over the season. Less keen on the hammer game, etc, it was better away from that and when Tomas found his mojo.

I'm sure the Pope travels in a Fiat 500L. And certainly, if you're bored with your home decor, just invite a demon into your gaf to rip up the stairs, etc.

    First hit's always free...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Yeah, they wrapped it up well enough - always impressed when shows finish out a first season with a conclusive ending rather than massive cliffhanger, which renders the whole thing totally pointless if it's not renewed.

I've noticed a more shows are doing that lately, which is a very welcome shift - they're more like mini-series than first seasons.

I enjoyed this overall, bit different from the norm and even though it was fairly cliche at times and not as creepy (if at all) as I had been expecting, the characters are likable and the actors do a fairly solid job.

Have to say I enjoyed it, I am big fan or all things exorcism based. I'd like to see a second season but it seems not enough people tuned into it. I liked Captain Howdy in the last episode, he looked like a proper demon :)

Why? It's "technically" true according to Catholicism (I personally lean agnostic/atheist so don't believe in heaven or hell anyway). Which I think is the reason the tables turned as it contradicted his own faith.

Just watched the last two episodes back to back and that might have been a mistake on my part as I was exhausted afterwards! :pac:

Felt like it was a rushed way to tie up a few loose ends, but the series left just enough to want to delve in to the conspiracy (hopefully in a second series / season).

I was seriously put off by Geena Davis' wooden acting for the first few episodes...but I suppose it helped her to be more sinister towards the end.

Honestly have forgotten the finale. The demon transferred from the daughter to the mother who then held the family hostage, but then I'm drawing a blank. Time to consult a recap somewhere.

    Happy to watch more.
