    Hi there,
I'm a complete newbie to boards.
Anyway, I joined to ask whether anyone has been in a similar situation as I am now.
More than 2 years ago I went on the contraceptive injection, this was my first type of contraceptive. I never got any period while on this injection. Within the last couple of months of being on it I started getting serious mood swings, feeling depressed, serious low sex drive, gained A LOT of weight and feeling constantly bloated because of getting no periods because of this I ended up taking myself off it because I didn't think it was healthy for an 17 year old to not have a period in nearly 3 years??
Obviously after coming off the injection I needed to go on something else. I didn't want anything containing hormones so I was recommended the IUD coil (Made from copper, hormone free) I was told that my periods would return may be heavier, longer, and more painful which I thought would be great because all I wanted was a god damn period after not getting one in nearly 3 years! But I got the complete opposite, I had bleeding for the first 8 weeks of receiving the coil but it was old blood in the formation of clots. This went away for approx 2 months and I still have not received a proper period! Its very annoying as I get the very bad period pains but no period?! Can anyone please tell me what's going on? I have the coil in for 9 months now.

    Hi OP,

Nobody can really answer this question here as we're not medical professionals.

Your best bet would be to go and speak to your GP/well woman clinic and ask their advice.

I'll lock this thread now as medical advice is not allowed on boards.
