Pre empting the upcoming episode post by including some highlights from the charter. I'll try to set up each episode in advance each week; thread will be unlocked on Sunday evening.

This is ONLY about the specific episode shown on TV! No information from any other source, interviews etc. are allowed to be posted with the one exception that SPOILER tagged lore from the DVD releases and interviews will be allowed in the thread. Such information has to directly relate to the episode however and be clearly marked as for example "DVD lore from Season X relating to matter Y"
    Lore and conclusions go here

This means book readers are allowed to post but they can not reference ANYTHING from the books.

In addition anyone picking up 3 yellow cards will be banned from the forum for the current season; in case of serious enough transgressions the ban may come earlier than 3 cards

Danerys is a bad ass. She is so much better when trying to out-smart people rather than pander to them.

    Getting good now

Can't wait for the next few weeks

The Jon Snow question is starting to drive me mad.

Not a bad episode things clicking into place slowly but surely.
Daenarys has a huge army at her disposal now a big episode for her.
Is John snow afraid/against fighting and battles now since his rebirth or am I just imagining things?

Very good episode. Have a feeling some people will call it pointless filler though.

Hoping to see Sean Bean's ghost to return to kill Jon just to be killed.

Wasn't expecting osha to be successful but wasn't expecting her to get poisoned by her enemies either.

    So much potential plot(s) chaos.

The same people moan about every episode. I don't know why they watch.

Sansa out for vengeance and Jon sitting on the fence. That they only have 2000 fighting men in the wildings was a bit surprising, granted a couple of giants will make it look bigger but I was expecting more. Some people have been complaining about the pacing, I think it's moving along very nicely!

Thank god Sansa and Jon didn't miss each other anyway. Tyrion returned to form slightly too tonight, much more in his element.
Pity we don't see more north of the wall and more bran flashbacks, my only complaint. They better revisit tower of joy soon.
    Overall good episode.

westeros is ****ed, the houses are lucky to have 5000 mena piece. Id imagine house bolton would have one of the largest armies, with stannis being gone. Daenaryas seems to have 100,000 dotharki. Plus the seconds sons, unsullied and whatever ex salves she brings. Oh and three dragons.

Id imagine the wildlings and knights of the vale will crush the boltons soon. Littlefinger seems to know everything. knowing jon and sansa would reunite and he's there to swop in and take the glory.

Thought it was pretty good. Ending scene kind of meh though with her pushing over the two fire thingies. Who were the two bodies outside the door, the girl who helped her and the older one? If so, who killed them.

I can't imagine young Rickon is long for this world. Ramsay is using him as bait, but I don't expect he'll be alive whenever Jon and Sansa arrive at Winterfell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

I thought that was the best episode of the season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭leonil7

damn what an episode, prelude to war.
if only jon & sansa knew the armies of the vale are marching north.. ramsey's days are on a countdown.

Daario looked properly shocked at the end - first time he saw Dani do a proper "miracle" apart from ride her dragon

Cool to see the Masters in Meeren, glad they got the guy from season 3 back, it was like watching The West Wing

Shame no Bran, but glad got to see Theon and Yara met. Theon looks very different to the last time he was on Pyke in his fancy outfits that his father mocked him over...

I was worried when Ramsay was peeling the apple that we were in for some Osha Flaying but gladly she got a rather quick death

Moment of the episode for me:
    Tormund trying to seduce Brieene

Had to be some kind of accelarant on the floor, its literally was like petrol, might explain the random bodies dumped outside aswell.

Are there more country's that are left to be explored who have vast army's ???

I imagine Dany and a few of the other Khaleesis covered the floor and walls in oil? And then had sex with each other off screen.

Above average episode but not great. The drawing out of Jon Snow's motivation to march on Winterfell was absolutely filler. HBO really can't help itself at times. Actual porn is less of a parody.

Great episode. Loved that Sansa finally got a bit of good luck in not missing Jon Snow. It would have been frustrating for them and for viewers. Also, finally confirmed Stannis' execution so it will shut up those who say "but is he really dead?"

I wouldn't say any element disappointed me though I'd loved to have seen more Bran visions but I knew everyone couldn't be fit into the one episode. The season is finally taking shape now and getting some direction.

For a second I thought Daario would kill Jorah when he had his back turned.

Lol I only said in the thread for episode 3 that danearys storyline was going nowhere and suddenly she has the biggest army by the looks on the show and her storyline suddenly got interesting again.
Anyways good episode, the trailer for next weeks episode also has me pumped.! It's looks like war will be popping up all over the place soon, the north storyline is really interesting now that littlefinger is back in the game and bringing the vales army into things.

Yeah that is a huge game changer.. I don't think they'll do much more faffing about over there. They may not move this season but I don't think the show will focus on it a lot.

I think she's fairly set now.. We just need Arya and Bran to fulfill whatever the show has laid out for them. I guess Littlefinger will march and Bolton will get crushed from North and South.

King's Landing is a pile of crap recently unfortunately. Maybe that plays out better in the books but I just don't care about the Sparrow stuff because it doesn't seem to play into the ending at all. Or Tommen for that matter.

I can see the Lannister/Tyrell plan going a bit pear-shaped and one of the all-important children getting caught in the crossfire.

Also, does Sansa hold Baelish in any way responsible for landing her in that mess with Ramsay?

    Eh surely she does.

Nice to see some of the plot-lines starting to come together, but some of it was pretty clunky.

"My lady, I've been meaning to ask you what happened to Shireen. Have you seen her lately?"

I really hope that was accelerant on the floor there with Daenerys, otherwise that was the most convenient combustion ever seen. I half expected to hear the T1000 theme tune as she emerged from the flames. :p Note sure what the whole point of Daario and Jorrah was if it was going to be death by four torches. Dragons have still to make their presence felt (personally I would have preferred that deus ex machina to resolve the Dorthraki issue). Would be hilarious if the other Dothraki didn't bow down to her, but instead realised Daenerys had run out of torches!

I think we've probably heard enough from the Grand Sparrow at this stage. Like Ramsay: we get the idea.

Sansa got Ramsay's numbers wrong though. Could have sworn it was twenty good men. :D

Weirdly, the scene of Osha's death was better put together than Roose's!

Found it odd that Ramsay didn't mention defeating Stannis. Yeah, defeated the king. No biggie. Now Shaggydog: that was a real prise.

I know the fire spread fierce quick but couldn't the lamps the pushed over have had an accelerant in them?

Anyway, I don't really worry about stuff like that. It's a fantasy show and I'm prepared to believe that the fire could spread that quick the same way I can believe in dragons and ice zombies./

She hesitated when Littlefinger said he was going to give her over to the Boltons. He told her if she didn't want to he'd take her back but that this could give her the chance to take back Winterfell. I'd say even if she said she'd go back to the Vale with him, he would have dumped her there as per his strategy but she may look upon it as a decision she opted for.

Dario and Jorah, pretty easy to figure out, no? And the one younger girl Dany was with earlier in the episode as well.

If anything was set up it was those guys that did it, no mystery to it.

Kit Harrington and now Emilia Clarke both turned out to be liars about certain things returning to the show it seems....

Wonder if we will see Tormunds giant willy now as well?

Yeah, because experiencing what death feels like and not wanting to feel like that again isn't a good enough reason to not march into battle

Probably just dead guards. The two women you're referring to were seen kneeling in the crowd at the end.

Not so sure, looked like a lot of CGI in that shot

She was shot infront of a green screen on a closed set and added to the scene it seems.

    http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/05/emilia-clarke-on-her-latest-game-of-thrones-nude-scene-this-is-all-me#11

"After reminding E.W. that last time she did any nudity was on Season 3, Clarke added, “This is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!”

As for this scene, E.W. notes that “the production took pains to shoot Clarke’s portion of the scene on a private ‘closed set.’”

“Taking off my clothes is not the easiest thing,” Clarke told E.W., “but with the magic of the effects, I don’t have to do a Season 1 and go on a cliff and do it. I’m in control of it.”

Good episode with the usual intrigue and carry-on:
The Kings landing carry-on will hit some snag or be revealed before fruition
Littlefinger doing what he does best
    Lord Bolton being himself
Jon Snow back to being a bit of a wuss
    and
Daenerys showing her twins (although very fake looking).

Unless those lamps were filled with oil, the end scene was a bit of a stretch

Looked like oil or some sort of fuel in them, when tipped over it would flow. Place is probably fairly dry as well.

Tywin always said that Cersei is not as clever as she thinks she is. I'm waiting for her plan to go tits up in some way. She seems to have a real problem seeing the bigger picture in any situation. It's always a petty and personal angle with her.

I actually love the High Sparrow. I really enjoy his screen time and seeing how such a seemingly simple man has managed to hold a kingdom to ransom. Fantastic character.

I'm very happy that Dany wasn't rescued by another deus ex Drogon. That ending was badass. Loved the panicked look on the Dothraki faces as she casually put her hand on the brazier.

Watch it back, it was liquid burning when she knocks the first lamp you see it spattering to the ground.

Also, weren't they in the place when all the Khalesii (unsure of plural!) lived? I'd say they mixed oil into the dirt on the floor and the wood etc. You wouldn't really be able to smell it with big massive oil-fire lamps I would guess! That's my theory at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,184 ✭✭✭shane9689

ehh, for those who dont know...yes fire can spread that fast ( i know from first hand experience) especially if theres hay on the ground and everything is made from timber...aswell as the lamps containing some sort of oil made for burning....infact its suprising the tent didnt burn down regardless....
as for the guards....the two lads outside killed them and put the wooden bolt across the door...since no one has weapons and werent aware of them, the lads had the element of surprise and a knife.

Also, im iffy about the sansa and jon reunion, dont see that ending in a bed of roses.

No but this is clearly a duo with jamie have an equal part and influence in their plans while Cersei plans on her own were as you say having Jamie who she obviously respects is what will stop her going bat**** crazy.

She would have loved to see Margary walk the streets naked but having the Queen mom do it is one thing having the actual Queen who was actually revered among the commoners is another thing entirely. An respect left for the crown would have been lost entirely.

Honestly, I think they're being played and Cersei, as always, can't see the wood for the trees. If the High Sparrow did tell Tommen that Margaery was going to have her walk of atonement then he did so knowing 100% that Tommen would run to mammy and tell her the "big secret". I'd say the High Sparrow is counting on some big armed response on their part.
