    Hi all

Looking for some help. I tried to make a beetroot juice a few months ago and it was awful. I just couldn't get rid of the awful earthy taste. I had added some ginger and lime. I cant remember the quantities of each but prob not enough of the other two.

Wondering if I am supposed to be cooking the beetroot first? I put them through a wheatgrass juicer the last time. This time to be honest I will be just throwing it into the nutribullet.

Any help or better yet any recipes would be brilliant. Was just going to go with beetroot, carrot, Apple and ginger but not sure how much of each. Will prob Google a similar recipe. I know those recipes call for raw beetroot. I think there would be less of an earthy taste if I simmered beetroot for about 30mins first, but would that mean I will lose out on any nutritional content?

    Thank you

Why not make beetroot soup? Lots of good recipes available, hot, cold, savoury, sweet...

And food that you enjoy, and eat, must do more good than food which tastes so horrible it is chucked down the drain! LOL

The vitamin A, carotene and anthocyanins are in some cases liberated by cooking, which softens the starch: so it might be better for you cooked than raw, just saying.

The world's richest source of potassium is beet greens, (the top-knot of leaves) which most people cut off and throw away.
I'm sowing some beet seeds this week!

I used to drink beetroot, carrot and cooking apple juice some time ago. I liked the taste. But beware that big quantity of raw beetroot juice is not good for you.
Nowadays I prefer to chew my food, so I make beetroot salad instead: pack of cooked beetroot, small can of kidney beans, little bit of red chopped onion, tablespoon of capers, olive oil or mayo, some salt and pepper. I can eat this everyday day (and almost do :D ).
