Diet after both kidneys removed

Hi, I'm asking this for my aunt. She has kidney cancer, and had one kidney removed last year. She is due to get her remaining kidney removed in a month or so. She knows her diet will change radically but when she asks the doctors about it they keep saying she's jumping the gun! But she wants to start adjusting and researching now but we're having trouble finding info online. Has anyone any tips or websites? All we know is she can't have salt, fruit, nuts, and leafy greens, and that she has to boil potatoes twice. She's already lactose intolerant so cutting out the dairy is fine for her.

Has she spoken to the Irish Kidney Association? I'm sure they would be able to offer some guidance

Great suggestion thanks, browsing through the site now and just ordered her the recipe book they recommended!

I'm a bit late on this but I think it would be worth her seeing a dietitian. With such a massive change in diet and lifestyle I don't think learning form a receipt book will be enough.

She had asked to speak to a dietician in the hospital but they told her to wait until after the op, which annoyed her a little cos she wanted to get as much info as possible beforehand ! But as it happens, she had her op this week and they managed to save half the kidney, they won't know how much function is left in it for a while but every little helps! :)
