I got a flexsmart x2 from Amazon. Works brilliantly.

Sorry to hijack the thread - but I have the exact same question so didn't think I should start a new thread :)

Just bought a 2008 Passat - it has the RCD300 radio which is fairly basic. No Bluetooth/Aux etc.

Really want Bluetooth Audio so was planning on picking up an aftermarket unit on eBay and getting it fitted but not sure what peoples experiences with them were?

    Something along these lines: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/RNS510-STYLE-Car-DVD-GPS-SAT-NAV-7-VW-SEAT-SKODA-PASSAT-TOURAN-GOLF-MK5-6-T5-/112032102790?hash=item1a15a23986:g:dTQAAOSwQupXXNQ~

Really want to avoid FM Transmitters etc. The current stereo has no particular features and no major connectivity to the car (the wheel doesn't even have any control buttons etc) so don't mind swapping it out.

I heard some of the aftermarket units can be fairly glitchy but they do seem to be a good option otherwise?

    Thanks!

I got a aux in bluetooth adaptor from Ebay last year for around 35 euro.

It uses the cd changer socket on the back of the rcd300, took 10 minutes to fit.

Gone up a bit since I got mine, but has worked perfectly.

    Got it from here :-

Thanks a million, that's actually pretty much what I ordered yesterday but the connects2 version. Yours is a fair bit cheaper, bah! Lol

Where does the unit actually sit? I was going to try and install myself. Not going to bother wiring up the mic as already have a parrot kit for calls but wondering how I get the unit into the glovebox say?

    Thanks!

I left it in behind the head unit. I fitted it to a Polo and it was fairly tight in there though.

You'll need a set of those 'keys' for removing the radio, they're only a few euro. Check youtube for videos on how to do it, fairly straightforward.
