1 meal a day with Intermittant Fasting-The best diet for fast weightloss

The absolute best diet for fast weight-loss is the following

Fast all day(Water and black coffee are ok)

Eat one big healthy home cooked meal at night

    Example

    1 or 2 Baked Potatoes
A big strip-loin steak Or 2-3 Chicken Breasts(try to get 70-120g of protein)
    Large Serving of mixed Veg
    10g of fish oil

The fasting can take a bit getting used to but once you do the diet is a breeze because an evening meal like that is so filling.

You also don't need to do any exercise to burn calories because the calories are so low plus cardio increases appetite however I recommend 2-3 fullbodyweight training sessions a week to maintain muscle

I guess, you mean 'fast one or two days per week'?
I've tried intermittent fasting before having a baby and it worked wonders. I didn't have much weight to loose but it was really easy not to eat until ~4pm couple days per week. I'd have a big dinner day before and skip breakfast+lunch the next day and have my dinner as normal around 4-5pm. Easy peasy really and it's a good exercise to get familiar with hunger ;) how it comes and goes in waves sort of thing ;)

If this was my meal after not eating all day I think I'd eat the table. I'm doing 16/8 intermittent fasting but controlling my calorie intake is fairly important on this kind of thing.

Also where are you getting your chicken breasts that 2 or 3 is 70-120g protein???

There is 24g of protein in 100g of chicken breast, a packet of 3 chicken breasts weighing 500g has 121g of protein

I guess you would lose weight alright.. Mostly muscle which leaves you looking soft and flabby - but lighter nonetheless.

no you wouldn't lose muscle as long as your weight training. Do yourself a favour and educate yourself before posting ignorant complete untrue BS comments , have a read of the warrior diet Ori Hofmekler

Fair enough I had different portion sizes in mind than you. I still find it hard to believe you get a full days worth of calories in this one meal though. Have you ever counted out the calories out of curiosity?

Its about 1200 , its low I agree. Its only recommended if you have a lot of fat to lose

    One Size Fits All.

At the end of the day when it comes to fat loss, One size does fit all. There are many methods but ultimately what any plan is trying to is put you in a calorie deficit

And each method varies wildly so to state yours is the absolute best is a bit of a stretch. It works for you. You are not everyone.

most likely he is right and you are wrong.
eating 1200 calories a day unless you are 8 stone you are gonna lose muscle and probably really slow down yoru metabolism if you continue this long term.

also eating 1200 a day and weight training will mean you are going to crash and burn and/or have a weight session not worth talking about.

we can all do crazy low calories for a while but I doubt it's sustainable long term .

how long are you doing this>

I've been lifting weights and eating well for the past 19 years. I don't claim to be an expert but I can tell you from experience - you will lose muscle, feel like crap and exercise poorly on this nonsense diet. But you are correct - you will lose weight.

What if you had a good breakfast i.e. a fry-up and didn't eat until the evening then, would you still lose weight?

lol, it seems you're the one in need of the education.

You have to eat to maintain muscle mass. Starving yourself will not help your body maintain muscle mass. Its not just a case of lifting weights to maintain muscle mass.

All these one meal a day diets are a load of rubbish. At some stage you have to eat like the rest of us mortals and then the explosive weight gain will be laughable.

I wouldn't give a 12 year old a diet that low in calories:)

10-15% under maintenance is grand. 1200 would be a third for me, I'd melt like a fat frog in a sauna.

Good opening post in here though and great follow-ups. You will do well.

Do you find extrapolating from N=1 to N=everybody works in any other areas?

Hard to eat 1200 calories? Some evening it'd hardly fill the gaps between my teeth..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,437 ✭✭✭FAILSAFE 00

Ask yourself this. When you get the results you want, then what?

Back to normal eating like the rest of us, which will be up to 300% more calories daily than what you have consumed for the last few months. Your weight will balloon back up very quickly.

Unsustainable diets are useless. The magic pill that suppresses reality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

It's just an extreme variation on a calorific deficit. It's not rocket science. Burn more than you take in and you'll loose weight. If you have a high body fat percentage you'll appear to gain muscle mass as the fat comes off initially.

It's not a sustainable diet and it's a very unenjoyable and unnatural way of eating. But if you do it for 12 weeks you will of course loose weight.

I actually think strict calorific deficits for the initial few weeks in very overweight people are good. You loose weight quickly, people see results and feel good about themselves and stay motivated. The challenge is after a few weeks when you have to go back to normality and eat as part of a normal life. It's needs to be realistic and sustainable.

Your captive gimp took a break and took his 17 stone cock out of your ass so he could have a slice of that cake, next step loose skin surgery. You lost so fast it sure sounds like your going to need some medical intervention

    Seriously man....

Apologies I meant no malice in the last post, just a bit of friendly banter. I'm not explaining the diet properly, its not low calories all the way down to 6 pack. You need to taper them up as you get leaner. Ill explain better tomorrow

Sounds about right - it will work well.
It worked for me for a long time - 8 - 9 months.

Please keep us updated with how it works after that time. For me personally, it was an absolute disaster.

I'd be interested to see a checkin post from you on a monthly basis.

    Good luck.

The even bestest diet for fast weight lost is a zero calorie diet. Two meals of ice cubes a day. The weight will fly off, I've been doing it for two months.

Phhh. One meal of ice cubes a day and the weight will come off you twice as fast.

Pfft, you need to be shovelling the ice cubes into ya, extra energy expenditure to melt the ice and no calories, win!

There is a science behind intermittent fasting.

However this crack is ludicrous and not sustainable long term.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭VonLuck

When will people realise that "dieting" is not a short term thing. These fad diets usually result in the person being unable to maintain the eating regime because of the restrictiveness of it and then go back to their old ways of eating to excess.

If you're looking to lose weight, the key is to eat a healthy balanced diet where you are eating at a small 500 calorie deficit below maintenance (this deficit may be greater for the heavily overweight). Once you reach your target weight, you go on to eat the same things, but just a little bit more to maintain your new weight.

I hate to say it, but it's as simple as that.

    Oh and exercise also helps!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,065 ✭✭✭j@utis

500kcal deficit is quite big unless you're a big person. I eat up to 2000kcal/day 500kcal would be 25% reduction, that's too harsh and I'd really feel it and struggle with it. I'd say eating 10% less your current energy intake would be a better option.

Pure rubbish, you're far better off eating little and often when trying to lose weoght. It's also a more healthier option.

I think it depends on the person really, and how they cope with hunger. I used to eat about 3000+ calories a day :o I cut immediately to between 1300-1500, so about a 50% reduction and tbh I've got more energy and feel better. hunger isn't much of an issue because my calories are coming from meat and veg mainly, which fills me, as opposed to the crisps and chips in the past that didn't fill me.

What were the bf% results from decades before after. You were probably very over weight and are now just a bit overweight. It's much easier to burn fat when there's a larger excess, and lower relative muscle mass. As you get closer to a goal weight, severe deficits like that will eat into lean mass.
